Turok to rock Turok animated film
If you're confused as to why this Turok looks nothing like the one featured in Disney's promising Unreal-powered first-person shooter (slated for February), it's probably because you either skipped the comic book series or never accompanied the dinosaur hunter when he battled his greatest foe -- the N64's draw distance.

Wow, it looks terrible

I think from everyones experience would tell you that cartoons based off of video games they can tell you it's a terrible combination;with maybe the exception of viva pinata, which is mildly entertaining.
DO THE MARIO!

Welcome to Factsville ... population: not you.
Turok was a comic a LONG time ago, then revamped by Valiant ... as a comic. THEN it became a video game much later.

Welcome to "it's-still-a-terrible-fucking-cartoon-and-not-that-great-of a-game-eithersville"
P.s. I never said it was solely based off of a video game, and the comic was last published 25 some odd years ago. I'm sure the concepts will be based off of the only material anyone under the age of 30 will have seen based on turok, which is the video game.
Cabal @ Oct 23rd 2007 6:02PM
Actually the last incarnation of the comic was published closer to 10 years ago.
losttoys @ Oct 23rd 2007 4:18PM
Odd that the independent label TWC (The Weinstein Combany) instead of Miramax is handling the distribution of this.

I'm left wondering what age group they're marketing that to. It looks too simplistic for adults, but too violent for younger audiences.
Also, it did nothing to fill me with nostalgia for the original Turok.

Cerebral bore plz.
WiNG @ Oct 23rd 2007 5:12PM
Sorry but Jurassic Park has a monopoly on the best "Fat man eaten by dinosaur" scene ever.
DemonGSides @ Oct 23rd 2007 5:26PM
Looks good, since it will have actual violence.
Anticrawl @ Oct 23rd 2007 6:06PM
I don't like it. As a native and a fan of Turok I'm offended, but I'll go see it anyway because I'm a fan.
Haha...
val @ Oct 23rd 2007 6:37PM
That is the single most awesome trailer for an animated feature that I ever saw. Too simplistic for adults!? Remember Heavy Metal!? That movie came out almost 29 years ago. I'll buy two Turok dvd's.
losttoys @ Oct 23rd 2007 8:16PM
The art style in Heavy Metal was animated much better than this. This trailer screamed "low budget".
dustandechoes91 @ Oct 23rd 2007 7:22PM
crap.....its a disney movie....with blood
Mecharine @ Oct 23rd 2007 7:41PM
Comic book, not the game. As in a book that often consists of entirely drawn pages.
bm @ Oct 23rd 2007 8:17PM
It seems to suffer from the same thing every western cartoon suffers from that doesn't have a multi-billion dollar budget: horribly shitty animation.
Too bad. :(
Paul Gale @ Oct 24th 2007 2:53AM
I'm looking forward to Turok: Son of Stone; I just hope it has the Chronocepter (I believe that was the name of the big, blue gun you had to assemble in Turok for Nintendo 64).
ironyCurtain @ Oct 24th 2007 5:12AM
While I think that an animated feature based on Turok could be ok, that was just too crudely animated to be something I'd bother watching. Voice acting wasn't very great either.
I think the comparisons with badly animated Disney sequels are apt. It's like they took the most recent Land Before Time and added a bunch of gore. Sweet.

Am I the only one that thought Daler Mehndi when reading the title of this post?
Turok Turok Turok da da da!
Sean @ Oct 24th 2007 12:08PM
lolz
Batzarro @ Oct 25th 2007 12:11PM
It looks mildly good...almost on par with Ultimate Avengers, if not there. I don'd get angry at average movies, so it should be fun.
