When screenshots described as "work in progress" look this good, you know a game's headed in the right direction. It turns out that the version of Super Street Fighter II: Turbo HD Remix shown at Capcom Gamer's Day in London wasn't the most recent build available at the same. To make up for it, the developers decided to post some screen-captures of the game on their blog. The high-res images show off the Ryu and Ken sprites, two of the game's levels, and the character select screen.
Peep the gallery for more images.

wish they could do something about the on-fire sprites. that is, have unique on-fire sprites for all of the characters, not just one version.

Guile's flag tattoo on his left arm is facing the wrong way. He's a communist!

Good catch! The flag should be depicted so that it appears as if you are running into battle. On a uniform, however, it is only on the right arm. Sorry if somebody already said this. I started this comment and had to go off to do something and it took a while to type out :)
From usmilitary.about.com:
"The rule dates back to the Army's early history, when both mounted cavalry and infantry units would designate a standard bearer, who carried the Colors into battle. As he charged, his forward momentum caused the flag to stream back. Since the Stars and Stripes are mounted with the canton closest to the pole, that section stayed to the right, while the stripes flew to the left."

Capcom already explained this. The original programming flips the image depending on which direction Guile is facing. This makes the flag backward on his left arm.
They have stated that they are staying true to the original by keeping the original programming and only upgrading the graphics. This means the original frames and hit boxes stay intact.

Why doesnt Capcom just put out a Hi-res video clip of the Ryu vs Ken fight on Kens stage. Why would they just let that "shaky cam" footage ruin it for us =(
C'mon Capcom get to it!!!

Its actually Backbone working on this from what I understand. They were having issues with the capture equipment from what I heard, so they got someone to release this in the meantime.

Why is there a superbar? I didn't notice that before. Do they have super attacks a la SF3?

They have superbars because the original Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo had super bars

really? I don't remember that; what the hell did they do? And how did you execute supers?

Double-motion supers. They weren't as flashy as Alpha supers, but they were okay.

Yeah, there were supers. This was the first SF game to have them. Most of them were just double motions like the supers in SF3 or Alpa such as Gief's 720+p, but some were different, like Guile's super which was like Charge DB, DR, DB, UR. I can't do that sh!t to save my life, but maybe I have the input command wrong. =/

Now there is a complicated issue. It was originally made in japan, where there are/were no pubes ever allowed in anime, but its being redone by a USA dev team, so who knows?
I definitely think this is an issue that should be on the forefront of SSF2STHDR discussions.

oh gimme a break, it's the same game with updated character sprites. Sorry, buy that's not enough to warrant calling it a new game. This high-def crap is really starting to get on my nerves....For christsakes people it's just more pixels! It's not going to change the world!

Unfortunately, you are completely wrong. I really would like the 'same game' to appear on XBL, but instead they are making this. But I'm still excited about it, and it IS a new game, in the same sense that Super Turbo was a new game when it came out.

If you are sick of the HD crap and all of the hype, don't buy it. Don't comment on it. Don't read about it. It'll be one less scrub we will have to put up with.

and no, the original SF 2 Turbo did NOT have super bars. Get your facts straight!

We aren't talking about Street Fighter 2 Turbo. we are talking about Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Most people refer to the former as "Hyper","HF" or "hyper fighting", and there were no bars in this version. "Super Turbo" has the bars.

I don't understand why people are happy about this. I mean, this is how SF II SHOULD have been released originally (on XBLA). The fact that we (myself included) keep buying a game with sprites that are now too low in resolution is absurd. Capcom shouldn't be praised for doing this, it should be a requirement if you're making games for HD systems.

Dear Trolls,
You're like a pack of emo's or something. Just stop crying.
OH MY GOD! The Street Fighter fans are excited about the new street fighter! How dare they like a retro game from there childhood. THIS IS A CRIME! The game's being re-released with better graphics on a newer platform. ZOMG IT'S A TRAP!
The fact it is exactly the same game with upped graphics IS the appeal. But I guess you guys are little noobs who don't know the value of a classic, am I right?
If you didn't like painting would you go to a painting blog/forum and bitch "the new brushes are just the old brushes but better"? No, you wouldn't would you? So shut up then.
Derek: No game has changed the world, your post fails.
You're all trolls.
Yours Sincerely,
Sakesaru
