A newly announced collaboration between Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Polyphony Digital and BBC Worldwide will see the broadcaster's popular motoring show, Top Gear, distributed through Gran Turismo TV. The online channel, expected to launch on the PlayStation Network during 2008, will host 40 downloadable episodes of the Jeremy Clarkson vehicle snobbery-fest.
An added bonus resulting from the agreement is an in-game replica of the Top Gear Test Track, bound for the PS3 installment of Sony's driving sim, Gran Turismo 5. You'll be able to experience "every white knuckle, hairpin turn," whether or not you're rambling into a camera about how the unnervingly attractive car makes you feel. If you haven't done so already, you can coax the Japanese PSN into giving you the GT5 Prologue demo while you await the final game's release.

GT > PGR, but it would have been cool to have the TG Test Track in Forza 2.

Actually that's an awesome idea. I was thinking they should add his ghost car for the track with the different cars too. Ghost cars for Captain slow, Hamster and Jeremy would be a nice added bonus.

Is this going to cost anything? If it is free I am all over it. If not... Well, I really don't like paying for TV, unless of course it comes in DVD mode.

I'm only in it for James May.
B-Sides, I didn't know Top Gear was big outside the UK?

Top Gear is the world's most pirated TV program. Because it's not funded by advertising, the fact they can say a car is shit without fear of car ads being pulled. That stuff is refreshing to the likes of Americans who's TV networks have to bend over every time the advertisers snap their fingers.

I only like the driving in gta, because of all the acceleration and hills and people to run over :)

I never get sick of driving. I have a 83 Trans Am White V8 with TPI fuel injection, Headers and 3 inch exhaust. My other car I had to give up last year was a 86 Jaguar.

Nope, I live 15 Minutes outside the city in Canada. Plenty of empty winding country roads. I don't speed too much anyway. I enjoy the acceleration from a dead stop and perfectly executing corners more.

I'd buy a PS3 just to watch Top Gear. I'd watch it every day when it was on Discovery.

And what in this news make GT5 WAY better than Forza?

Well the news itself doesn't make it WAY better than Forza, it always has been. Being able to watch Top Gear on demand, as an American who is constantly left out of the Automotive loop, only makes it taste that much sweeter!

I swear the BBC is like Sony's bitch. It seems like every other week that the BBC and Sony is working on some type of collaboration to over hype what's already been over hyped. Someone should go to BBC headquarters and tell them that Sony lost this generation and in order to appease the gaming populace who dictated this generation with their pocketbooks to collaborate with Nintendo and Microsoft. Because according to the BBC Sony is the only company that "matters".

GT5 with Top Gear... it's like Jessica Alba showing up at your door naked, and she brought cake with her.
