Gran Turismo TV to feature BBC's Top Gear
A newly announced collaboration between Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Polyphony Digital and BBC Worldwide will see the broadcaster's popular motoring show, Top Gear, distributed through Gran Turismo TV. The online channel, expected to launch on the PlayStation Network during 2008, will host 40 downloadable episodes of the Jeremy Clarkson vehicle snobbery-fest.
An added bonus resulting from the agreement is an in-game replica of the Top Gear Test Track, bound for the PS3 installment of Sony's driving sim, Gran Turismo 5. You'll be able to experience "every white knuckle, hairpin turn," whether or not you're rambling into a camera about how the unnervingly attractive car makes you feel. If you haven't done so already, you can coax the Japanese PSN into giving you the GT5 Prologue demo while you await the final game's release.

Can I drive a reasonably priced car around the Top Gear track with the Stig?
Kye (NDF - Earth Ring) @ Oct 25th 2007 5:35PM
If you can race against the stig's ghost times then I swear I'll buy a PS3 for this.
Jerk Face @ Oct 24th 2007 8:45AM
Gran Turismo makes me want a PS3. It sucks.
Jtenma @ Oct 24th 2007 8:51AM
O RLY?
Wibby @ Oct 24th 2007 8:54AM
What a great Idea! shame they did it on a PS3, would have been nice in PGR4 :o)
glitched @ Oct 24th 2007 9:40AM
Shame your such a flame baiter.
GT > PGR and you know it
pasht @ Oct 24th 2007 12:32PM
GT > PGR, but it would have been cool to have the TG Test Track in Forza 2.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Oct 24th 2007 6:22PM
wow thats sad flamebait right there. even xbox fanboys know GT totally owns PGR.
Poisoned Al @ Oct 24th 2007 9:01AM
Now THAT would be pure, liquid awesome. Better still is having the Stig as a near unbeatable boss character.
Poisoned Al @ Oct 24th 2007 9:02AM
Dammit, this should have been a reply to Karen.
Karen @ Oct 24th 2007 10:48AM
Actually that's an awesome idea. I was thinking they should add his ghost car for the track with the different cars too. Ghost cars for Captain slow, Hamster and Jeremy would be a nice added bonus.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Oct 24th 2007 6:23PM
That would be awesome!!! I love Top Gear. It's the only real car show left.
michael.staniforth @ Oct 24th 2007 9:18AM
Go Stig!!!
Q: How many hours will be lost trying to beat his power lap times?
A: Lots.
Aex @ Oct 24th 2007 9:30AM
Is this going to cost anything? If it is free I am all over it. If not... Well, I really don't like paying for TV, unless of course it comes in DVD mode.
Vidikron (FU) @ Oct 24th 2007 10:29AM
Hopefully free. I have the Prologue demo from the Japanese PSN store and it has the GT TV there already. Obviously, Top Gear isn't on there, but there are a few videos available and they are free. I'm hoping this will be the same.
James @ Oct 24th 2007 10:01AM
I'm only in it for James May.
B-Sides, I didn't know Top Gear was big outside the UK?
Poisoned Al @ Oct 24th 2007 10:22AM
Top Gear is the world's most pirated TV program. Because it's not funded by advertising, the fact they can say a car is shit without fear of car ads being pulled. That stuff is refreshing to the likes of Americans who's TV networks have to bend over every time the advertisers snap their fingers.
Poisoned Al @ Oct 24th 2007 10:23AM
And oh yeah, Captain Slow FTW!
James @ Oct 24th 2007 10:57AM
He's just so awesome and smug and bumbling and eccentric and cosy sounding.
T3H WICKERMAN (FDF) @ Oct 24th 2007 12:05PM
Top Gear is great! If i had a ps3 i would be all over this. Lucky bastards!
NATO_Duke @ Oct 24th 2007 9:48AM
Thats a pretty darn cool perk for the game.
jamey @ Oct 24th 2007 10:57AM
Finally!! I was just wondering why there were no DVDs of top gear t be found. I guess this will do.
gonk @ Oct 24th 2007 10:07AM
what's with all these car games? do other people not drive enough irl to be sick of it?
I only like the driving in gta, because of all the acceleration and hills and people to run over :)
Karen @ Oct 24th 2007 10:55AM
I never get sick of driving. I have a 83 Trans Am White V8 with TPI fuel injection, Headers and 3 inch exhaust. My other car I had to give up last year was a 86 Jaguar.
gonk @ Oct 24th 2007 11:04AM
ever get tickets?
Karen @ Oct 24th 2007 12:06PM
Nope, I live 15 Minutes outside the city in Canada. Plenty of empty winding country roads. I don't speed too much anyway. I enjoy the acceleration from a dead stop and perfectly executing corners more.
Brian @ Oct 24th 2007 10:11AM
I'd buy a PS3 just to watch Top Gear. I'd watch it every day when it was on Discovery.
lopez @ Oct 24th 2007 10:42AM
til date this is my favorite racing game.. PS3 is claiming that there new title will pass GT.

klitorisaurus @ Oct 24th 2007 3:37PM
A picture of a statue is your favorite racing game?
Clarkson = God @ Oct 24th 2007 10:52AM
Top Gear is the greatest show in existence. Bring on season 11!
blakout @ Oct 24th 2007 11:24AM
It's being shown on BBC america every monday night
FM @ Oct 24th 2007 11:25AM
The $399 PS3 and GT5 can't come soon enough..this is great news btw.
Jon @ Oct 24th 2007 11:48AM
Don't worry I am sure Forza or PGR something will get Fifth Gear.
Mission: go burn down Top Gear's warehouse and cool wall.
James @ Oct 24th 2007 11:49AM
Damnnn...I already knew GT5 was going to be WAY better than Forza. Now it just solidifies it. The ONLY PS3 game that makes me want to throw my 360 in the garbage and take a dump on it.
xx JPRacer xx @ Oct 24th 2007 1:33PM
And what in this news make GT5 WAY better than Forza?
klitorisaurus @ Oct 24th 2007 3:37PM
Well the news itself doesn't make it WAY better than Forza, it always has been. Being able to watch Top Gear on demand, as an American who is constantly left out of the Automotive loop, only makes it taste that much sweeter!
Rob Accomando @ Oct 24th 2007 12:22PM
I hope there's a prologue available soon!
Abscissa @ Oct 24th 2007 2:07PM
Sounds awesome. Too bad I don't care about Gran Tourismo.
*ducks incoming projectiles*
Lekko @ Oct 24th 2007 2:13PM
I want the top gear test track.
YOU HEAR ME POLYPHONY?
Leobebes @ Oct 24th 2007 4:02PM
I swear the BBC is like Sony's bitch. It seems like every other week that the BBC and Sony is working on some type of collaboration to over hype what's already been over hyped. Someone should go to BBC headquarters and tell them that Sony lost this generation and in order to appease the gaming populace who dictated this generation with their pocketbooks to collaborate with Nintendo and Microsoft. Because according to the BBC Sony is the only company that "matters".
mccomber @ Oct 24th 2007 5:17PM
GT5 with Top Gear... it's like Jessica Alba showing up at your door naked, and she brought cake with her.
thomashenwood @ Oct 24th 2007 5:35PM
Top Gear episodes in game is just a gimmick, but the Top Gear track, now that is nice. Yeah, that's right a nice PS3 thing.
