Ys I and II being remade for DS

Originally released in the late 80s for PC, Ys I and Ys II were the foundation of what would become a fairly popular RPG series spanning across several systems. Now, gramps and grandma are getting a fresh coat of paint for the bajillion or so DS owners in Japan.

This new version will offer new animations, a multiplayer mode and boss fights. The kicker is that the games will be sold separately from each other for the equivalent of $44 ... a piece. Hey, we just finally figured out how to pronounce Ys properly: "ball-sy."

The letter Y should never be followed by anything but a vowel. So put that in your Yggdrasil and smoke it.

On topic, I've never played either game, so I might get my Ys cherry busted. But not for $44. I'm not a whore.

I am not NEARLY enough of a fan of this series to shell out that much money. Holy hell..

Um, almost EVERY DS game is priced like that (or more) in Japan. This isn't some kind of radical exception.

I'm just going to wait for it to come out on VC. There's a good chance it'll be far cheaper. :x

Kinda like FF1 and FF2 anniversary edition... except it was Final Fantasy.

I have Y's for the Turbografx CD, master system, Cell phone, Y's III for the SNES and Y's for PS2. Will I get the DS remake? HELLS YEAH!

$44 per book?? That kinda bites. I seem to recall Book I being more of an extended intro, with the meat of the game being Book II.

They'd better add a whole slew of goodies to make it worth that price of admission, particularly if the Turbo CD version will be coming out on VC for only $8.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am extremely excited about these games coming to the DS. I know they were released in Japan on the VC and I hope that they come stateside sometime soon. I am craving it.

I played Y's growing up on the master system and I have had an itch ever since. Those who haven't played are seriously missing out on a great rpg.

And I was THIS close to getting on the Virtual Console.

uhg...and this is why I refute gamings pricing schemes every chance I get this sir is madness,put them together for 59.99 thats more reasonable but this is pure BS.

Jesus, for all you know it's gonna be a complete RE1 Gamecube style makeover completely worth the full price. But of course everybody's an insider and has already decided that it will be a simple polish-up!

1 is half a game,even remade its goign to be...half a game.....so they should be sold as 1,after all they already made money off the series, no need to rape the consumer.

I think $44 sounds right. Stuff's more 'spensive in Japan because they have a higher standard of living. They'll be $30 or $35 when they hit the US (assuming that happens).

Actually it wasn't released for the PC...but the PC Engine (or Turbographix 16 in the United States)
