PSP's Secret Agent Clank will connect to PS3 in 'secret' way
They'll see each other from across the room, the PSP and PS3 will both hum almost imperceptibly, the Wi-Fi will crackle and suddenly ... they'll connect. Secret Agent Clank meets Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and it's love at first interface. ... Now what is it exactly that they do?The thing is, the connectivity between the portable and not-at-all portable Ratchet and Clank titles is, much like love, a mystery. In fact, MTV goes so far as to say that the two will connect "in some secret, undisclosed way." Ah well, guess we'll just have to wait for the love affair to begin when Secret Agent Clank hits in 2008. If it will ease the waiting, you can learn more about the game in PSP Fanboy's interview with the dev team.

Oh man, cool. Hopefully it's as the good as the Wind Waker "use the GBA to drop bombs."
Hopefully soon they'll make PS3 games that can only be played with PSPs!
And then a card reader for the PSP!
why not the LS2/LS7? @ Oct 26th 2007 11:19AM
Rear view mirror. Shhhh, don't tell anyone.

good for the 5 people in the world who will actually use this feature

Yeah, am I the only person that finds this entire "mobile-to-console" connectivity thing a giant gimmick and a complete waste of development time?
Babel @ Oct 26th 2007 5:09PM
Nope, many of us agree with you.

Handheld-Console connectivity can be surprisingly effective if carried out properly. Two of my all-time favorite multiplayer games were built out of GBA-Gamecube connectivity - Zelda: Four Swords Adventures and Pac-Man Vs. The unique advantage offered by using handhelds as controllers is the ability to have private screens. Try out either of those games with 3 or 4 people, and you'll see how impossible it would be to achieve the same effect by any other means. Four Swords Adventures, in particular, makes ingenious use of alternation between public and private - there is always a public area on the tv, but you can venture into caves, houses, etc on your GBA; for once this allows both the shared experience co-op play and the freedom of striking out alone to explore areas.

I completely agree. Crystal Chronicles was a really fun game as well. The only thing holding that back was the 6 ft link cable cords.
Chrystal Chronicles Wii needs to be have a Crystal Chronicles GC with wireless DS connectivity built in; kinda like Rogue Leader had Rogue Squadron built in.

I wanted to get both Four Swords and Crystal Chronicles, but I didn't have friends with GBAs and the single player didn't sound interesting.

Pac Man Vs was fantastic as a party game.
I never got to make the most of FF: CC though, and the Wind Waker implementation seemed a little pointless.
warioswoods @ Oct 26th 2007 4:42PM
@Crono - that's a great idea. If only they would also re-release Four Swords for the Wii with DS wifi implementation. . . then I could finally get rid of all those old GBA's and link cables I've horded for that purpose :)

So it doesn't use the WiFi? What does it connect with then the IR port? Wow that sounds awesome.
baby sea tuna @ Oct 26th 2007 1:27PM
This would be awesome if the 2 games were released in some sort of close proximity. Do we have any idea when Clank is even coming out? Hopefully it'll be before people decide to start selling their copies of "Tools." If so it could add some serious replayability, if implemented correctly.
Superstar90 @ Oct 26th 2007 5:48PM
does it switch the games around, so you can play clank in HD and carry tools of destruction in your pocket?
