We can identify with this particular pumpkin on so many levels. Just seeing our beloved companion cube fills us with joy, though it is quickly scooped out and replaced by guilt and the terrible imagery of our fiery betrayal. What have we done?

Actually, we challenged you to carve a magnificent jack-o'-lantern in the hopes of winning one of ten copies of Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles! You still have until Monday, so check out the rules and commence carving.

That carving is very original. It shows how far the Companion Cube has gotten so far. I can't wait to play Portal soon enough...

That carving is very original. It shows how far the Companion Cube has gotten so far. I can't wait to play Portal soon enough...

I feel like Im watching the latest season of mythbusters here, with them reminding me every 10 seconeds that its up to me to tell them what I want to see done on the next episode lol.

I dont play portal so I dont get this pumpkin at all, but I liked some of the others. Are people tracing these with like a stencal or something or free carving them? Cause when I free carve the best I can do is a crooked smily face :?

As the creator of said Companion Pumpkin I'll answer some of the questions:

@gonk: Yep, they are toothpicks holding up the hearts. I was going to try and change the design so that I didn't have to use toothpicks because I think it's kind of cheating to use them. It ended up looking stupid without them, so they stuck. That or it could have looked like a regular Weighted Storage Cube... that was a joke, ha ha, fat chance.

@mike: I made my own stencil. It would have looked like absolute crap if I didn't. I'm not nearly as talented artistically if I don't have ctrl-z and photoshop. ;) The only down-side was trying to make a 2D stencil work on a spherical surface. If someone can tell me how or where I'll post the stencil I made.
