Those who fired up their new copies of Guitar Hero III yesterday might have been disheartened to find that the game lacked the offline co-op quickplay mode. Luckily (for a portion of you, at least) that's going to be addressed with a quickness, thanks to a patch that 1UP says is coming this Tuesday to Xbox Live.
The bad news is that there's no word of similar treatment on the Wii or PS3 versions so far, but hopefully it's not too far off. We're not sure what's so difficult about offline co-op quickplay that it had to be addressed with a patch, but we're happy that Activision seems concerned enough about it to act on it so quickly. Of course, that's not much comfort to those without internet or (we're looking at you new Arcade owners) a hard drive to save the patch on.

This is good news. But what about those people who bought the game who don't have xbox live?

You don't need to pay for Xbox Live Gold to get the update, you just need the 360 connected to the internet and signed on to a free Silver to get the update. If your box doesn't have internet, just carry it somewhere there is some. If you don't have a Silver account, just make one for free.

That's like bragging you have a bigger mole on your left cheek then someone else. No one cares and it's not impressive anyhow.

They probably weren't too concerned. My guess is that it was supposed to be in the game, but they couldn't get it in in time for the game to ship by the release date. That's whatever I think when I see patches adding features this soon after a game comes out.

That's all well and good, but when will they address that I can only play Devil Went Down to Georgia as a duel?

Does the PS2 version have co-op quickplay already, or are us oldskool guitar heroes just screwed?

My friend works at Gamestop. I was just up there and he told me that so far 2 of the PS2 versions and 1 360 version did not include the game inside!!!!
He had to call another store and have them verify that the games were missing before eventually giving the customer a copy.
Now the problems with off line co-op. This game was RUSHED out.

Xbox live gold accounts cost but SIlver (for downloading content) is free. So, unless they dont have an internet connection they should be ok.
As for PS3 all online play is free.

K so thats one patch down... I wonder if they are going to patch the star power... Is anyone else getting a quick stutter when you unleash star power? I talked with 3 people and they do... THIS should be fixed... Kind of annoying... I thought i was going to Red Ring...

I was getting that too with Lars Umlaut, but it went away when I switched to Slash.

All my friends are seeing their star power engaged without warning. My first guitar was broken... the yellow fret button was DOA. So I got a replacement guitar and now the problem is that the stupid star power is deployed without my consent almost all the time. It's gotten to the point where I try to stay very very still so the star power doesn't auto-deploy. It's VERY annoying.

MS will quickly certify GH3 to patch an issue, but TF2 took almost two weeks to patch, Man money sure does talk.

The ONLINE producer for GH3 said on Major Nelson's podcast that the game has ONLINE co-op Career... which it clearly does not.
IMO Neversoft/Activision bit off more than they can chew with this game... they should have just went for GH2 with new songs and all the online trimmings. Releasing a game before it's finished... when a producer doesn't even know what version shipped is just sad.

they need to adress the "not able to connect to other players" problem. On the player list, NO one had a signal. Only way I could play was to create my own game and wait 4 someone to join.

I'm VERY confused now. What do you mean offline co-op? I have the 360 version and I play Co-op Career offline and select Multiplayer... oooooh, i see now. you mean quickplay multiplayer. well my sister and i are both on expert so pro face-off is how we do it

Can they patch the fact that my lead singer and rhythm guitarist were replaced by muppets? It's distracting. I know Bret Michaels did the mo-cap for the lead singer; did the Energizer bunny do the mo-cap for the drummer?

it'd be nice if they patched it so it just automatically used the gamertag the 360 auto-logs in as. Also, if it automatically used my hard drive. Some other games don't need me to select my hard drive as the space to save/load stuff, since it's the ONLY HARD DRIVE CONNECTED

This is bullshit. 99.9% of my guitar hero II play is offline co-op with my friends. Unless they come up with an updated game disc, Activision just screwed themselves out of a sale of guitar hero III for the wii. Probably better off. I didn't want to have to sacrifice my wiimote everytime I want to play it.

Just installed the patch for Legends of Rock on the 360. I got one session of co-op play in, and now I've got the 3 red rings of death. Is this happening to anyone else after installing this patch? I'm flashing back to the patches from gh2...
