You know what, although I was looking forward to GTA4, if this content doesn't make it into the Simpsons game unaltered, I will not be buying GTA4. I'll just go get Saints Row 2. If I have to lower my standards for what is right, then gosh darn it I will.

That is exactly what I will do. I sure hope it doesn't make it into the game because I don't wanna spend 60 dollars on the same game I played 5 years ago. But seriously I'd be hard pressed to support a company full of whiners.

Wow. Calm down. I was only joking. You see my tag, it's Jim Halpert. I wasn't saying Saints Row was bad, I like the first one.

Dear Rockstar, I played the Simpson's Game demo. You have nothing to worry about. Keep working on GTA4 and make the release date. That is all.

Rockstar does not have a leg to stand on, since parody is protected speech.

This means nothing.

The RIAA has taught us that, even if it is legal, if you throw your weight around, piss, moan, and threaten, you will get your way

You are all missing the brilliance behind Rockstar. Rockstar is doing another parody. They are pretending to be the whiny company that attacks anyone that attacks their IP. Good one Rockstar. Good one indeed.

There would still be threat of a lawsuit, and perhaps a real lawsuit, which must be faced in court with lawyer fees and all that.

Its just easier and cheaper to remove the content. This is the same tactic recording studios have taken as far as copyright infringement goes. They threaten you with tens of thousands of dollars in potential judgement, then offer you a "deal" of a multi-thousand dollar settlement. Meanwhile, the only person who decided to fight it out in court had a moron attourney and a moron jury.

FYI - if someone sues over an issue that is clearly mertiless, it is possible to get fees (sometimes even atty fees) returned to you. It happens in cases of bad faith lawsuits.

As parody is clearly protected, it could be argued that such a suit was done in bad fatih and merely to harass. Its not a sure bet argument, but could still be made.

This is true, but it still takes more effort to go to court than it does to highlight offending code, and press "delete".

yeah, I know it isn't THAT simple, but you get the picture.

I'd spazz too. It's one thing to put parody in game, but when you market your game with another companies' marketing materials, it's easily lawsuit time.

If they want to market their game with posters that appear to be for another companies' games, the answer is simple: pay the other company. Or else come up with your own marketing ideas.

Somebody should tell Rockstar that one out of every dozen games made in the last five years rips their IP more than this satire could ever hope to.

Suddenly I feel like supporting EA.

come on Rockstar, GTA is nothing more that a juvenile take on Super Mario 64... Besides, it's a joke. If will Wright allows to be called a nerd in the same game why do you feel angry when they even did a spoof of your game on the movie?

The guy makes good points (in the interview) but if that pic is actually from the game, then they probably should have spoken with Rockstar first.

I'm a big fan of the GTA series (even if that makes me uncool to certain gamers) but I do agree that the series is filled with parody and lame attempts at humor. They really do try to throw the number 69 everywhere, among other things. It's odd because some parts of the games are actually well written but it's like they let the more juvenile members of their dev team handle most of the humor.

Having reviewed The Simpsons Game on 360, I can confirm that the Grand Theft Scratchy stuff is indeed in the final game. All over it, in fact.

What does anyone expect from Rockstar. They cater to the lowest common denominator AKA THE GREAT UNWASHED because the game is made by THE GREAT UNWASHED. It's easy to please the dumbest of the dumb and that is just what Rockstar does. Go all thug and lame and you'll have a many lame thugs follow you.

Aww. The Simpsons writers are so humiliated by how pathetically mediocre their hasbeen show has degenerated into over the last decade that they got upset. And worse, at something far, far more imaginative than their trite cliche' garbage.

Thanks writers. We'll keep doing our part of humoring you into thinking anyone actually watches your show anymore.
