NBA 07 and MLB 07 aren't PS3 exclusive. PS2, PSP anyone?

Why in gods name did you get NBA 07? It's the worst NBA game on the PS3! NBA 2K7 ftw?? And you picked up two '07 baseball games? o.0

Lair - 54 Metacritic
Heavenly Sword - 79 Metacritic

Wow awesome games! Resistance with it's 86, killer app! Oh wait the 360 has 23 games with that score or above, the PS3? 6 games, three are available on the 360 (Oblivion) and the other is a remake of a remake. Resistance and Ratchet are close to being the only reasons to buy a PS3 if you already have a 360 and not a lot of money to burn.

I see your standards are pretty low, or you have money to burn, in which case the PS3 suits you fine. In fact, it's not really the PS3's fault, it's just that the competition is better, at least for now.

I wonder why people keep listing Heavenly Sword even though it's a pretty average game. Certainly not a reason for me to buy a PS3.

I dont believe he made the list to try and convince you to buy a ps3. He listed what he owned. I also dont believe it was listed to get into a ps3 vs 360 pissing contest that you turned it to. We all know that the 360 has more games since its been out for a year longer, so the chances that it has more games with a higher rating are also better. Very good

people list heavenly sword because those who have played it enjoyed it. The only problem with the game is that its only 8 hours long. Other than that there should be no coplaints from people that PLAYED it.

So the new chip saves 65W @ $.086 kw/h = A savings of one penny, more or less, every two hours of game time. You spend a penny for every hour of game time.

Those lucky 40GB bastards. It'll only take 25,998 hours to buy a PS2 from the savings.

There goes my street cred. But unless I'm completely off my rocker, I did the math correctly in calculating the cost difference per hour.

1000 * 65W = 65KW * 8.6 cents per kw/h = $5.59 for 1000 hours of operation / 1000 = .0559 cents per hour. Of course, if you're only interested in watts per hour then 8.6 cents per kw/hr becomes .0086 cents. Unless the 60GB console has a RRoD-type problem, I don't think I need to factor in relative lifespan and replacement cost between the 65nm and the 90nm.

Math was never my strongest subject, but if you want to out dork me then please do so.

There are fewer and fewer reasons *not* to buy a PS3 instead of a 360. Most games coming out are mutli-platform. The $400 PS3 is on pretty equal footing with the $350 xbox. The PS3 has a rock solid reliability record (mine's been maxing out its cpus for 5 months straight running Folding@home), and xboxes have some of the worst reliability of any console. Sony's online play is free, Microsoft's is not.

For someone with no investment in either console, the PS3 is looking like the best bet for the money. Oh, yeah, and it plays HD movies, too. That's just the icing on the cake.

But against $280 Xbox? Right - no footing.

Frankly, both Xbox360 and PS3 suck equally.

PC + Wii that is a killer combo.

In terms of hardware you are right. The PS3 is a better deal. Sadly, the 360 still reigns supreme on the software side. Titles above 85? 30 on the 360, 9 on the PS3. Titles above 90? 10 on the 360, 2 on the PS3.

Titles above 79 (the score of the oft-praised Heavenly Sword by PS3 fanboys)? 90 on the 360 (90 titles better or equal to Heavenly Sword, OooOooOoo), 35 on the PS3.

Now before you come at me with your score whore bullshit, realize that the 360 has much more games, shitty or not, average or not, so even if one were to be have very low standards, the 360 has more variety.

The $280 XBox 360 Arcade? That piece of crap? No hard drive, no wifi. Add in $100 for the 20gig hard drive and $50 for usb (blech) wifi and all of a sudden you're at $430. Yeah, that's fantastic.

Sony Online is free but it's a dog slow network. Outside of Sony games it hit or miss on the quality. There are still features that are missing from the service. Free is only worth something if it's comparable to something that is not free. Right now PSN is not comparable to Live and thus free means you get a subpar service for the price.

The $400 PS3 is a great move by Sony and does bring the PS3 within striking distance of the 360. Blueray is a nice perk but but unless you have a 1080P set it's really not worth the price of admission at this point in time.

The fact still remains that that if 360 is the best playing console, has the best online service and IMHO has the best media playing abilities. For the games that are out for the PS3 you can easily pass on them and wait until MGS and FF comes out. No one needs to be in a hurry to purchase a PS3 because you can believe the price will probably drop again by the time those games are released. You can easily pick up the 360 and play the majority of the 3rd party games that will play and look better on the 360 not to mention some of the best games to come out this year like Orange box, Bioshock, Halo 3, Gears of War etc and I will also include Mass Effect because I am sure that will be another hit. They you have Gutar Hero and Rock Band, COD4, Assassin Creed and probably a few others that I am missing.

SOmeone included Dirt as a game that plays better on the PS3 then the 360 but if you put them side by side you see that the PS3 is missing detail that the PC and 360 version has. Even then, the game only barely plays better but it definitely doesn't look better since you are getting a shortage of detail for a little smoother performance.

I haven't seen the PSN as slow at all. Downloads from the PS Store are stupidly fast, and the only time I've had any lag *at all* was when I was playing someone in South America (I'm in North America).

Most PS3 games have voice chat, online invitations for friends... I don't see what MS has over Sony's online experience besides achievements (and Sony has online leader boards for most of its online games as well - not quite the same thing, but effective).

Nate you are using retarder gamer logic again. Let's see according to you, to play the PS3 heavenly sword, I need:

PS3 - $500
a TV to play it on $1900 (for a 1080p 40" tv)
a house $250,000
Electricity - $100 a month.
Oh, I got to pay internet to use PSN $60 a month
Hmm, the game is 8 hrs long, So I'll have to take a lunch break, $15
oops, got to wear clothes to lunch $100
Oh, shit, forgot, I'll need soda to drink while I play $15
Damn, forgot I'll want to sit on a couch, $1000

Now It just cost me $253,690 to play ONE PS3 game!!!!

Yes, you do sound this retarded when you do that cost comparison bullshit.

yes, I read PA ritualistically for those that are going to point out I am not very original.

Dude, wow, seriously. I'm not talking about couches or even TVs. I'll grant you that the wireless isn't necessary. It's a pain to run a wire, but for someone looking for barebones, that's fine I guess.

But the hard drive.... the HARD DRIVE. That's $100. $380 right there. Good luck making any use of XBox's highly acclaimed online service if you can't download more than a couple games to your 256meg memory stick, not to mention game saves etc.

I have about 30 gigs of pure PSN-downloaded stuff plus games data on my PS3.

So... yeah, the $280 gig machine is just a gimmick by MS to get people in the door, until they realize they need a hard drive, and then they have to shell out the rest of the money anyway.

Let's be real here though, most people will be buying the arcade system to play games on, they don't care about he other features, I know people still using an antenna to get their TV picture from for god's sake. When they find out about the other features, some may like it and buy the additional parts, some may not car, after all you can still play T3h H@l0z of the arcade.

But with the PS3 there are changes that take away things you can never get back. I like my PS3, I love ratchet and clank, and Heaven;y sword was awesome, but let's get real: someone buying a system to game on is better off at this point with ANY version of the 360 because there's som much more crap out for it. Even if we ignore the scores totally that the games for each system receives and whether they are FPs or not, the fact is if you throw enough shit at a wall, something is gonna stick, and the PS3 is a little low on shit right now is all.

Those are you good games? Rachet, and clank being the only worth buying that are not on other systems and with better graphics! I guess warhawk cant be left out (sweet) but try some game of the year calibur games. Not good only games (rachet and clank is great! if like me you like that kind of game). 360 has FOUR games competing for game of the year! And if I had my way none of them would be Blue dragon (also on 360 ) would be. This game is SERIOUSLY underated (except in Japan where Famitsu gave it raving high scores)!

@ Nate, I will say you are the exception not the rule when it comes to PSN. When I download anything from PSN it's almost like I am running a 56K modem. A 500MB download takes about 3 hours to complete on PSN while on Live it takes less than 10 minutes.

Yes most games have voice chat but not all. Yes PS3 games have invitation for friends but only if you are PLAYing that game. With Live you not only have voice chat in all games but you can be in a totally different game then your friend and still chat. You can be watching a movie using Media Center Connect get an invite to a game, pause your movie, go and play the game with your friend disconnect from the game and go back to your movie at the place you left it. If a Developer decides that a game is not getting enough online play they can pull the server and wham no more service for that game. The services are not comparable.

Yes, The harddrives are expensive but you can get them for 30 bucks on Ebay. You do know that you can use external storage. You can store your games on an external harddrive but I will say that you can only play them on your memory card so you would need to bring them back on the card for play.

Most people that would get the 360 arcade will never need a HDD since the only games that need a HDD are MMOs.

If his experience with PSN is an exception, then I guess mine is too. I downloaded the 1.3 Gb R&C demo in well under 30 minutes.

Furthermore, are you really saying that there is no meaningful difference between the 360 Core and the 40 gb PS3? If that is the case, then I guess the Core is perfectly equivalent to the 360 Elite as well? Since hard drives and such are so meangingless?
