I used to play this old PC game with my little sister called the Last Half of Darkness... really crude graphics and sound, but there was one room that had these two little vampire girls, and when we got there, my sister ran screaming from the room. I lured her back and told her I had clicked away and it was safe to come back. As soon as she sat down, I promptly reentered the room. She screamed again and started hitting me.

One time while playing a Silent Hill game in the middle of a stormy, lightning-and-thunder-filled night, the power went out leaving me in the pitch black. So that was pretty freaky, I guess, but not really. The power goes out a lot where I'm from due to storms: Florida, so I'm used to it. Plus, I ain't afraida no ghosts!

All of Fatal Frame 2 just creeped me out. The constant tension rise-and-release just wore me down, and I never even finished it.

I haven't been following this game at all, but I hear it's supposed to be pretty good.

I don't really have a good story of my own to share, but my friend was creeped out one night by the "GameCube" whisper on the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Demo Disk.

I can't remember the name of the game but I had these headphones on and I was playing in bed (DS) and I kept hearing scuttling under my head and I keep checking but there's nothing there. It keeps happening and I think its a cockroach crawling under or in my pillow. I take apart my sheets etc and finally realize it was a sound from the game coupled with these stereo headphones

My scariest game moment is very old school. I was playing Wolf 3d on a 486 (I was teh ish at the time) and I was at this level that kept kicking the crap out of me. I heard something over my right shoulder so I glanced out of the corner of my eye to see a german shephard staring at me from the window. Of course, at the age of 10 my scream probably startled it, so it began barking and lunging at the window. I fell out of my chair, and broke the cord for my mouse while quickly running to the other side of the house.

I remember when the first RESIDENT EVIL came out for PS1. I had just got it and decided I'd wait to play it until my parents went to bed so that I could use the "big TV." So I start playing the game around midnight, by 1:30 I was so freaked out that I shut it off. I tried to ease my mind by watching TV, but the video for Aphex Twin's "Come To Daddy" came on. I ended up making a bunch of snacks and staying up all night. Then I played the game in the safety of sunlight.

I will say my scariest moment was playing Eternal Darkness and it said my file was Destroyed. Then I found out that was only to make you think you lost your file.

That is a game I hope they make another of be it on the Wii, DS or 360 and PS3.

Well, it wasn't super scary but I was sort of creeped out by the maze behind the kitchen in "The 7th Guest". It was that music plus the sounds of footsteps running through a puddle of water that got me. I loved everything in that game!

I was playing Fatal Frame 2 in the dark while I thought the wife was sleeping on the couch. She was not and waited for the music to kick up and she grabbed me and screamed real loud. I seriously pissed myself and screamed like a little girl. She still laughs to this day about that. Damn women!

One time I was playing Eternal Darkness around 2 in the morning. At that point of the game, I hadn't experienced any of the paranoia things yet, so I was pretty freaked out when the volume of the game started rising by itself followed by the game muting itself. I originally thought it was the TV acting up, so I was messing with the TV remote hoping that my parents wouldn't wake up to all the ambient moaning and such. This was one of the many times this game freaked me out in the wee hours of the night.

For some reason...the first time you see a metroid in Metroid Prime scared the crap out of me. I guess because it waits a second to break out of the container after you finish scanning it. Just enough time to think "Well, maybe it won't bust out of there." WRONG!

Wow, I can't believe it's not been listed already...

Clock Tower for PS1 was the scariest game ever. I was like 12 or 13 and I spent the night at my friend's house. His dad had just gotten a playstation and Clock Tower and we stayed up until about 3 am. The first time I saw that scissor man start opening closet doors to find (and stab) me, I called my mom to come bring me home. Needless to say, she wasn't exactly happy to pick me up, in a terrified state no less, at 3 am.

This happened to a friend, because i am the one that did it. Back in junior year of college our neighbor in the downstairs apartment was playing Doom 3 and telling us how scary it was. He lived alone and me and my room mate decided it was time to have some fun.

It was around midnight and i was talking to the neighbor on aim, and he said he was going to get his laundry out of the dryer down the hall. We had about 3 minutes, and we knew we had to move fast.

Earlier that day he was saying how Doom 3 was so scary and we would never be man enough to play it. We had the spare key to his apartment since he locked himself out so much, and my room mate ran down and snuck in while he was in the laundry room. The neighbor got back, and said goodnight on aim. Well my room mate waited about an hour, and started with the zombie noises and some scratching. He sent me a text message saying to get ready, and i positioned myself outside his apartment in my demon mask from last halloween. My room mate bursted from the closet, and our neighbor shrieked like a little girl and bolted for the hallway, to be greeted by me, he knocked me over and ran off to our apartment upstairs. I dont think me or the room mate stopped laughing for days. The best part? He ran out of his apartment and waited outside ours in his underwear

It was thrice the days after christmas once a upon a time. Resident Evil 2 was the game. At the point when a Licker got totally siq and blasted through that window used in interrogation rooms. A large dictionary happened to fall off my shelf and landed with such a jimmy-jacking thud. Yeah, needless to say I had to ask santa for a late christmas gift of new buttock-and-crotch covers.

Well there have been a lot of scares with the original resident evil, but I'll mention the image that I still remember to this day. You in the house and you go into a dark hallway to see a dead body on the floor. Even worse, something is eating it and comes after you. But the scariest part is when the zombie looked up. That was my first encounter with one and the face, especially the eyes scared the hell out of me. Luckily you were able to run out of the hallway and it was shot in the head,

Scariest moment recently? The medical wing of Bioshock. I'm in an office with my back to the room, listening to some recordings, flipping through inventory, and generally taking a breather. I turn around, and that freakin' dentist is starting right at me. Just standing there and not saying a thing.

First I screamed like a girl. Then I emptied my shotgun into him. Freak didn't even try to fight back.
