Two new DS Lite models, both branded & bundled

Nintendo's making a final push to indoctrinate the rest of the world's pet-deprived tweens and twenty-something geeks, according to a new Sears ad. Come "Black Friday," two more DS Lite models will hit retail ($150 ea.), each branded and bundled with a corresponding game.

There's the metallic pink ~~Pound Puppies~~ Nintendogs case, complete with (bloody?) paw print and game -- which reminds us, our lil' pixelated Shih Tzu hasn't been fed in about two years ... Anyways, moving on: there's also the gold-sprayed Zelda unit, (spotted a few weeks ago and) bundled with Phantom Hourglass, featuring the Triforce logo for those of us not quite ready for the more-permanent expression of our faith.

Damn it, damn it! That DS looks so nice. I already have a DS Phat, DS Lite, and Zelda...But I'm not sure I can pass this up. I guess I could always give the extra copy of the game to my sister for Christmas...And my current DS Lite touch screen is pretty scratched up...

What to do?!?!

The special edition mariokart ds(phat) i had came with the cartridge in a cardboad sleeve. If they try to keep the package size down with this model i doubt you'll get a returnable jewel case of LOZ:PH. You might get a gold cartridge though. which would score a nice return on ebay, cardboard sleve or not.

I think I'll get rid of my Blue DS phat so I can buy the bundle this Christmas... if they don't sell out, that is...

I hope they don't have the new crappy screens like those in the crimson black DS's.

I'd pick up the Zelda one as long as the screens are good. Wish there was a way to find out beforehand.

I hope the store I work at (Target) gets some of these in cause im gonna be working alot during the time these come out. I haven't seen a reason to upgrade to a DS lite. But, now I have a reason cause I don't have phantom hourglass yet and I can get both for a reasonable price. Not only that, but I get my discount

Im very dissapointed with my DS. Why did Nintendo make a handheld system that they are not going to make quality games for. My PSP gets way more playtime.

Besides the tons of great UMD games that have been available for the PSP from the get go, I can play flash games for free from within its built-in web browser - see http://www.psponme.com/list_psp.asp?cat=Arcade for some examples. Also I can download great demos from places like http://demos.pspfanboy.com/ and videos, subscribe to RSS feeds and so on. The PSP even supports locationfree content. Plays MP3s (visualizers included), photos (slideshows sharing) etc. And with a steady stream of free firmware upgrades the systems feature set keeps evolving.

It was only a matter of time. I've been holding out on getting a lite because I wanted a gold Zelda one after missing out on the gold SP. However the Zelda DS I had in my head is way cooler, replacing the raised DS logo with a raised triforce outline. I was determined that if Nintendo didn't make an official one, I would make one.
