I won't get this game until a few more reviews trickle in, so I've been looking at the Dementium board on Gamefaqs.

What's your opinion of what many are calling the "broken save" feature? They say manual saving is largely useless because when you die your save is erased and you're forced to restart the chapter, which is especially frustrating when an end-chapter boss kills you. They claim the only way to avoid it is to power off as soon as you're about to die, then load up the save. I only saw one person say it wasn't true, your saves are not erased.

Care to clear it up? It does sound like a game-breaking issue and a cheap way to lengthen a probably-too-short game.

For that matter, about how long does it last? I'd be interested to hear how long it takes others to beat the game.

The game is pretty tough - the screamers kill me extremely quickly. Only on the third chapter since I got it Monday.

on 3rd chapter and never come close to death. what a bunch of little girls I haven't even come 1/2 half. So far I am really enjoying this game, totally worthy of a buy.

$30 is nothing man, buy it.
If you don't buy it that shows developers to not make games like this on ds. You will get more kiddy crap like Phantom Hourglass.

are those new ds games $30 in america? in the netherlands they're 45 euros (which is equal to more than $65 at the moment). you're right, it's a good game, BUT PHANTOM HOURGLASS IS NO KIDDY CRAP!!! well, maybe kiddy, but definitely no crap. by the way, you are right, they should make more of these kinda games for nds.

Well, the atmosphere is truly creepy. this is one of the most intense and scary games I ever played.
On the other hand: all levels look the same. The bosses are really easy and the few puzzles I ran in to where really easy as well. It would have been nice to see more story evolve in the form of stuff (like notes) you find. A little more detail in the game would have been nice too. But for the price this game is a really good deal. So go get it :)

The save thing sucks I think, I dont know why they did it that way...so yeah, best thing to do is save often, and if you're in a situation where you're about to die, just cut it off real quick.

As for beating the game, for me it took right at 6 hours, and I could probably do it faster the 2nd time around now that I know what to do.

Overall, yes its a cool game and worth the buy, but the story could have been developed more and it could be a bit more involved and complex. It also sucks there is no extra content or anything like that, at least not that I know of. A shame they built these nice 3D levels and didnt implement some sort of wifi option so you could do multiplayer deathmatches and stuff like that.

I don't find it at all broken, but I really like it when horror games are somewhat punishing. It feels more... I dunno, legitimate? I'll complain about it in other genres, but here, yeah, I think you need to be able to do the whole thing in one pass (per level), so I kinda like the restart. But your mileage may vary.

I'll have a full review up next week!

did anyone else find it just slightly humorous that right above the m rated logo it says "basic reading ability is needed to fully enjoy this game."

I dont know maybe its me but really....bare with me and read my logic....anybody over 17 who buys this game hopefully can read(i know some cant but whatever) if they cant they will buy it anyway because they wont get refused at the counter, and they couldnt read the sentence that states they need to be able to read........so this text seems to be aimed towards 17+ parents who are considering buying it for their 16- kids........doesnt make sense to me...but whatever....just slightly funny!!

An amazing game, especially for the ds. I would definitely buy a sequel if they mad one. Save feature can be annoying but I think its appropriate for the genre.

And as for the detail, remember people the ds isnt all that powerful;; (just little more than n64) so this is pretty impressive but don't expect RE4
