Last minute Halloween costume idea: Billy Mitchell
If you're still searching your soul (and your closet) for a last-minute Halloween costume idea, then you could probably do a lot worse than dressing up as Billy Mitchell. Or, as Mr. Awesome likes to call him, "Silly Bitchell".
If you want to talk cheap gaming costumes, then check out MTV's Multiplayer blog. Looks like all you need access to are a mullet-y wig, facial hair and a patriotic necktie of some sort. Plus you need to have attitude in spades and the ability to drop cheesy lines left and right. You can accessorize with bottles of hot sauce, arcade tokens, and a sneer.
Halloween on the cheap. Get a friend to dress up like Steve Wiebe, and you're set.

My avatar sums up Billy Mitchell perfectly: balloon knot
The guy is a jerk, a coward, a just might be a cheater as well.
Screw Billy Mitchell....still living his life based on a pile of sad dreams from the 80's. What a pathetic hunk of flesh that guy is. The lame hair isn't helping much, either.

ehhh I'm guessing your basing this off of that movie,
I don't know about that though since I heard that the director twisted alot of things in the movie to make Billy Mitchell seem like the bad guy.

That movie and ANYTHING Billy Mitchell has ever done. Any interview with him over the years is just hilarious to watch because the guy is fucking full of himself. He comes off as a huge jerk no matter what a director does.
Believe me, the director, editor, producer, whatever of The King of Kong didn't have to do anything at all to turn Billy into the villain. He did it himself. Mitchell has always been an ass. The film just showed that to a wider audience.

Does his arrogance get in the way of his totally owning all of us at a shitload of classic games? Your problem is not with his 1337 skillz, trust me. And calm down.
Gavin @ Nov 1st 2007 3:49AM
Calm down? Billy Mitchell compares himself to the abortion issue.
That guy has serious fucking ego issues.

i still think that a cardboard rendition of the weighted companion cube is the best halloween costume for 2007.
Sean @ Oct 31st 2007 7:31PM
Best costume ever. Maybe because I haven't played Portal, but goddamn, King of Kong was awesome.

It's a neat idea, if I saw one in person they'd most certainly be on the receiving end of a liberal application of high fives.
However, it's not as good as the WCC. Nothing is.
And Silly Bitchell? Come on. Sad dreams from the 80's? Are professional gamers limited to games of the current generation or something? Tell that to the Street Fighter 2 pros or the Tetris pros. Don't be a dick. This guy is a master of some of the best classic arcade games.
Gavin @ Oct 31st 2007 10:30PM
Somebody hasn't watched the King of Kong
Billy Mitchell is the dick.
Rubang B (NDF - Heart) @ Oct 31st 2007 11:42PM
You caught me! Yeah I'm gonna see it soon I swear.
I know he's a dick... but still, he's a dick who's amazing at some of the classics.

@Gavin
Once again, I wouldn't trust that movie.

Given a few fridge boxes, a Sharpie marker, and some underwear elsatics, you can slap together something pretty rad:
