You know, if they could actually MAKE an Indiana Jones game that wasn't a shame and embarassment to everyone involved, this complaint would be valid (incidently, since when is Indiana Jones the first explorer?). But they can't, so it's not.

So, do you think that this game is going to sell like Mario Galaxy (1.5 millions of pre-orders) or amazing like Heavenly Sword (just 200,000 in two months)?

The only games that are going to help Sony is Final Fantasy (2009) and Metal Gear solid (delayed).

Even Guitar Hero 3 is for Wii is selling more than the PS3 version.

It's not meant to save, it's just another notch against the meme that the PS3 has no games.

but it does have the chance to be the sleeper hit of the holiday season.

I haven't bashed Sony or the PS3 since I return to Joystiq.

In fact, I'm making some good comments, fair and balanced comments. And I like this way better, even I receive more hearts =)

This was just and opinion of this game... I don't see any compelling feature in this game... only the graphics, and thats what almost all Sony fanboys (not everyone) look in a game, just graphics.

This game is not compelling to be a system seller. It's just an opinion, without bashing or trolling.

Frankly, what I worry is that this game will go in the way of Psychonauts: High production values, superb gameplay, engrossing story, highly rated, but because of lack of advertising, undersell badly. If this game received even half as much advertising budget than Halo 3, there's a good chance it'll rake a much better production cost/profit ratio.

Frankly, I don't think this game will sell too well but honestly, it establishes a series. Yes, you heard me right. Otherwise, why is Drake's Fortune a subtitle? Uncharted will become the name of the series.

And besides, if the game looks good, it looks good. It exists in a genre that is underrepresented. Will it compete with Mario? No. But what kind of braindead monkey makes those comparisons. Hell, Mario Party 8 is a million seller. That is a HORRIBLE FUCKING GAME. But it's got Mario so it's got sales. You're expecting the first game of a franchise to somehow go toe to toe with a 20+ year old franchise... yeah, fair comparison right there.

And besides, there's no point comparing with Mario since they're aimed at DIFFERENT TARGET AUDIENCES to begin with. Mario selling well would have little to no effect on the sales of Drake's Fortune. Especially when you consider that if someone could afford both a PS3 and a Wii, money's probably not going to be too much of a problem.

wow f.r. thanks for telling us you are fair and balanced. it's appropriate phrasing because you have about as much credibility as fox news.

i don't care that you don't acknowledge anything good about sony--it's not my problem to know why you blindly hate something so inconsequential. what bothers me is how much of a douchebag you are whenever you decide to give everyone a blatantly biased fanboy op.ed. and then pretend like your opinions are more correct or fair that the opinion of someone who likes something instead of hates it.

you've had good posts in the past. i've +hearted you. did you learn your lesson? no. instead, you are still a troll. it's just that now you are also a pussy, afraid of getting booted again.

this game is the reason i finally went out and got the 40 gb ps3, and i'm not the only one. this game is gonna rock. every time i see something new(trailer, screen shot) make me more excited for it. this trailer has definately raised my excitement to a new level. this is the type of game that if you play it at a buddies house you are gonna want it. it's definately not gonna sell as much as mario galaxy as there are way more wii's out there right now than ps3's and duh it's mario it's nintendo's biggest game, how can you even compare these two games? it's not gonna sell as much as halo 3, not even close obviously as there are also more 360's out there right now and major cheif is xbox's mario. but i have no doubt this game will sell well over a million and as more and more people see/ play this game it will continue to sell. and by the time uncharted 2 comes out this will have turned into a HUGE franchise, and will be a system seller.

and there is more than just final fantasy and mgs coming out for the ps3 pretty soon, how about haze, GT5(kicks the shite out of pgr), another one that no other system can compare to is little big planet, and many more. as far as the 360 goes the only game i am stighly wanting to play is mass effect, all the other games are meh. besides halo 3 which already came out i dont see to much for the 360 coming out before the end of the year.

I'd get both if they were on the system I already have. Oh well, guess I'll get neither, since I only let myself buy 1 console per gen

This game looks better everytime they show it.
Just look at the corpse that Drake finds about halfway into the video... it is way better than the old (Scooby-Doo) version.
Ratchet and Clank was awesome and this looks to finish Sony one two punch of fantasic games for the holiday season.

Sony might have the one-two punch. Microsoft on the other hand has that (Halo 3 and Mass Effect), followed by an uppercut with PGR4.

Nintendo on the other hand went in with a right hand lead with the Wii itself, then is doing a 1-2 punch with Mario Galaxy and Sonic and Mario at Olympics, followed by an uppercut with Soul Calibur Legends, then finishing it off with a dragon punch of other titles such as Zack and Wiki, Victorious Boxers, Fire Emblem, and Nights.

All in all I think the Wii is going to take the Holidays hands down. Microsoft and Sony are in deep trouble this Holiday season to me.

The environments look good, but the combat looks kind of lack-luster. I realize that combat may not be the core of the game play, exploration most likely is, but still the combat looks half-ass.

So what did you think of Bioshock and Halo 3? Were you wow'ed by their innovative gameplay that was unlike anything you have ever seen before?

There is no innovation in video gaming. The video gaming and movie industrys are at this point unable to innovate, but they continue to find ways to refine what has come before them and tell provactive stories. It will be very rare to find a game that is truly innovative in the next 5-10 years. True innvoation will require a complete shift in how games are played.

Stop bashing bout the game jus coz the graphics are too smooth.

Y wud u not want to have a decent front cover for a decent book?

whether gameplay is gd or not, presentation is just as important. I highly doubt GeOW wud have received as muuch attention as it has without the quality graphics since it WAS [THE] game every fanboy mentioned when backing up their claim.

I'll say it bluntly: this game has always looked fucking phenomenal, and it has only gotten better. I want a PC port. Fair trade for Unreal, imho.

Ratchet and Clank, Drake's fortune, Unreal 3, and some good non-exclusives: GH III, Rock band, Oblivion, COD 4.... those $400 ps3s would definitely not look so bad to me if I wasn't a PC whore.

hahah, tough luck Jeff.

But yah, Naughty Dog is a freaking amazing studio, one of the most surprising things is that for this game, they actually started from 0, no codes, just nothing...

I also thought about having it on PC, but then again, somehow I have gotten used to the DualShock, but yah, if these guys can pull such mechanics/graphics on the PS3 at this early stage, imagine what they could have been able to make for a high end pc....

if this game was exclusive to anything but the PS3 we would hear nothing but praise about how good it looks, how smooth and fluid the animation is and how it was another reason to get a (insert game system here) instead of a PS3.

Sorta like how sony fanboys would be screaming "the wii is for kiddies!" if LBP was on the Wii?

Plus playing the "What If" Game is stupid.

If this game were on the 360 exclusively I probably still wouldn't buy it since I've already played Tomb Raider and there are other interesting games coming out in the same week basically.

Right now I'm just finishing up BioShock, starting VF 5 with ONLINE PLAY. Then comes Assassin's Creed, NFS: ProStreet, Mass Effect, and ooddles more of gaming goodies.

Plus theres SMG for the Wii and other titles that I'm interesting in playing on that system as well.

In short the delaystation 3 still has no games. And with MGS4 being delayed until Q2 it just cements this notion.
