You can write GPGPU software on any modern GPU, it's just about the difficulty and available tools. I've seen Particle Physics engines be written on a 7900GT, it took a fair amount of effort because it was written in a high level language designed to take advantage of any card which supported OpenGL. Where as wit the help of nvidia and sony, they should be able to program a very fast program using low level features of the card.
