I pre-ordered mine like 3 months ago so I should be rocking out that night. $170 is steep but there's a ton of play value. Rock Band and Mass Effect should take care of my gaming time for a while.

Just tried the Demo at Walmart. The guitar seems bigier and more sturdy that GH3 and the Drum set is pretty cool. I have a copy reserved at my local gamestop. I'm sure that will be doing a midnight opening for this.

I wish this wasn't the same day as Mass Effect. Plus I could use a new MP3 player... sigh.

isn't 170 bucks for what amounts to one game a bit steep? You could get nearly 3 full priced "normal" games for it....of course, everything is more expensive blah blah blah.

hopefully they'll have an add-on triangle or tambourine for those of us with no musical talent

Sounds like EA hype. Remember the stories of "limited" amounts of the Legendary Edition of Halo 3? I have yet to go to a Best Buy/Target/Walmart since the release and not seen multiple copies of the Legendary Edition. I found it no problems on release day at a Best Buy. There were 4-5 on display. I asked if that's all there were and he said they had boxes of them in the back.

Not to worry for me, I've had mine reserved for a while. And I got to play the demo at Best Buy, and absolutely loved it...although, they were set up on about 10" LCDs, which kinda sucked....but playing Detroit Rock City, Dani California, Tom Sawyer, it was amazing.

$170 is a lot for "one game", but it comes with three peripherals, two of which are rather large. I mean, really, it's like $90 for GHIII with just the guitar.

Maybe a new peripheral will be a cowbell.

Because, you know, we need more cowbell.

Looks like I'll just buy Guitar Hero III then. They're only losing customers by not having enough supply, the competitions too stiff when you're charging $170.

@10: ...that doesn't make any sense. If you can't have enough supply, even when charging $170, you're doing GOOD business. In fact you could charge more, if people still want the product even at that price, and given its rarity...

Plus, I think it's all bluffing. Who, in an INVESTORS meeting would say "Yeah it's not really going to sell, and we'll lose a bunch of cash on it." Honestly I think it won't be a Wii-like launch at all, it'll grow big, but lunch is still in a tight spot: Huge games around, no brand name recognition, and its quite expensive.

It shouldn't be THAT hard to get early.

@11: I feel like that is only true if there isn't an already market-tested product (GHIII) already out. People will just buy that instead.
