Confusing map? Do they need a linear map? Of course they do. (rolling eyes)

A quick (and rough) summary of the reviews:
10 -- A gripping story, feels like a movie. A true next-gen action game, simple interface but satisfying.
8 - A stand-out title in the 360 library, but camera issues (while nitpicky) are often enough to be a problem.
9 - Surprising and amazing in lots of ways, but even just moving the character around is a lot of fun. Jumping from wall to wall or diving from high places makes for great action.
10 - Climbing walls and performing acrobatics is highly addicting. Story is impressive.

I agree with 1. Lately Japanese rpg's for the most part have become so linear. It's nice to have a world to play in where you need to pick up on visual references and landmarks like in the real world.

Japanese RPGs on the 360 in particular have been pretty lackluster. If you're looking for something really damn good in the genre, though, I would suggest picking up Persona 3 for PS2. Amazing. Makes other RPGs even less tolerable than they were lol.

How can it be called next gen when we STILL have a bad camera and map? These are things we have had since the first 3D games and we still can't figure them out? I can exscuse things like AI and water effects or something becuase that takes some serious coding and powerful processing, but a bad camera? Come On!

Calm the F**k down, ogvor!! This is Assassin's Creed we're talking about here not Lair or any thing. The game is good and we should all be thankful the hype was worth it.

God of War still holds the best camera to this date, because well, it's not in your control!

Im still skeptical about the gameplay/controls tho. pressing different buttons for your body parts, while holding r trigger at the same time? i dunno. i'll wait for more reviews.

@Kerid

I wouldn't be so sure. This is only one review. Electronic Gaming Monthly pretty much sandbagged the game when they did a pre-view this month (on an almost final build). I believe some of their bullet points were: "Slow combat that was a chore, instead of being fun", "Bad crowd AI" (still, even after the hilarious missteps at last years E3), and not a whole lot of variety in the different towns.

I'd take their article with a grain of salt, since we can't even read it. I guess EGM's should be taken with a grain of salt too since they had maybe 1 or 2 weeks after the review happened to touch up the game (but I doubt it).

All we can do is hope for the best, but surely there has been PLENTY of reasons to think that the hype was NOT worth it.

IGN said this was a letdown though. I hope they were too overly critical and the other reviews were right

only camera problem I have is, when you're trying to blend (holding A button) it is near impossible to move the camera back behind you, as to autoo place the camera behind you, you must click the right joystick. I would rather have that be assigned to the left bump button, as it has no function in the game anyway, other than thatm awesome game. (slight camera trouble when in smaller places with a horse, but I guess I shouldn't be in smaller places wth a horse :p )

oh, and when you're in the middle of a combo kill , near an edge on a roof of some sort, you and the guy you're attacking float in mid air till its done, then you fall. (if you're combo moves you over the edge, that is)
