Manhunt 2 credits neglect Vienna team
Oops, looks like some people didn't get credit where credit was deserved in the sweeping epic of love, lust, loss, betrayal and murder known as Manhunt 2. Former producer Jurie Horneman writes on his blog that the names of 55 people, who worked on the game at Rockstar Vienna before it was closed in May of 2006, are missing from the game's credits. He lists the names as best he can remember, with the exception of one person who did not wish to be named.
Horneman says, "I am disappointed and outraged that Rockstar Games tries to pretend that Rockstar Vienna and the work we did on Manhunt 2 never happened - the work of over 50 people, who put years of their lives into the project, trying to make the best game they could. I am proud to have been a part of that team." Development teams switch up all the time -- it's a wonder we don't hear about stuff like this more often.

THESE people are complaining about not getting their due credit?!?
Clearly, they have not met JAmerican, who has suffered the most grievous injustice and indignity that has been committed since the Holocaust:

Ha ha... Touché sir!
That's actually really funny.

There's hope though, since one of them preferred to stay anonymous.
Though 1 out of 56 isn't a very good sign for humanity.

this just in: WHO GIVES A SHIT?

if you worked in the industry, you'd give a shit.

Seriously. Imagine if you had a job for a second, suspend disbelief.
Now imagine you were never recognized for the hard work you did. You slave away for hours and hours, only to see Steve in accounting get all the credit and a raise.
...in this case though it's probably a good thing credit wasn't given. I hear the game is pretty mediocre.

Hmm, I'd like to see you working on a project for two years and then not get any credit for it whatsoever. Working on something without being credited is hard business.

Welcome to the real world!

Dick move, Rockstar. Dick move.

What's interesting is that the original press release and game announcement (which occurred after Rockstar Vienna's closure) never mentioned Rockstar Vienna either: http://ir.take2games.com/ReleaseDetail.cfm?ReleaseID=228854

Quick correction to the article: Jurie is male, not female.

While I think it's pretty shitty of R* to leave them off while listing everyone else, I have a hard time caring. Think about it, it's pretty much only the entertainment industries that insist on having everyone down the caterers in the credits. When was the last time you bought a box of cereal that had a list of credits beyond a few company names on the side? Hundreds of people, from the farmers that grew the grains to the factory workers that boxed the cereal to the delivery guy that took it to the grocery store, had a hand in putting that box of cereal in your hands, yet none of them get any credit to the end consumer. None at all. So, yeah, I have a hard time caring about something like this.

True, but *someone* put these blood-soaked pliers in my box of Fruit Loops, and I'd like to know who it was.

How ironic that Rockstar London was involved with the development of Manhunt 2, a game banned from London.
DangerMouse @ Nov 2nd 2007 2:15PM
I'll protest by not buying it. But that mostly has to do with the fact that i have no interest in purchasing this game whatsoever.
angryguy77 @ Nov 2nd 2007 2:35PM
where's penfold?
Jurie Horneman @ Nov 2nd 2007 4:22PM
I am fine with people not caring, and yes, there's a certain irony that of all the games I worked on THIS is the one where I take a stand over credits. Because I so wanted to show this to my mom so she could see my name on the screen!
Why I care: a) it sucks not being credited for years of work, b) it sucks having to explain resume gaps during job interviews.
Also, don't make me prove I am male. Wait, I have a beard, it's OK.
