This week GameTrailers.com ends their epic Final Fantasy retrospective by going over what it takes to make a Final Fantasy game. The rules to create a FF game worthy to be part of the Roman numeral series are pretty loose, but GT does their best to go over most of the minutia required for an installment in the franchise. Crystals vs. spheres, three party members or four, what role should Cid play? These are the hard questions SquareEnix has to sit down and answer before starting a project.
Go ahead now and enjoy the last retrospective. If you missed any of the episodes they are linked below for easy reference. If you decide to go on a Final Fantasy retrospective today it'll only take a few hours to watch them all. We're looking forward to GameTrailers' next (significantly shorter) retrospective series tackling ... well, they won't tell us. What would y'all want it to be?
I'd like GT to do Sonic or Megaman and see how they handle the really bad games for both franchises that have ended up on consoles lately. Mortal Kombat would be fun to do. I wouldn't be surprised if they did Mario, with Galaxy launching very shortly. But that would span a lot of titles - if you're including all the sports, puzzle and minigames. That would be a very long retrospective.
Besides franchises - it would be awesome if they started to do game companies - Lucasarts, id, Capcom. Those would be really fun to watch. I really miss the old TechTV/G4 channel. It seems like GT is picking up what G4 left behind and carrying the torch for quality video game content.
That was very well done. I haven't watched the whole series, but I saw the first few and now this one. All of the capture work and editing must have taken forever. Say what you will about Final Fantasy, but they did a great job with it.
The Patriots, also known as the La-li-lu-le-lo, are a secret group, revealed in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, that control the United States of America. The group is led by inner circle consisting of twelve people known as the The Wisemen's Committee.
The Patriots were, in fact, the American branch of a secretive group known as the The Philosophers, a group which was formed after the end of World War I when leaders of major Allied Powers, China and Bolshevik Russia entered a secret pact for unknown reasons; but broke away decades later as a result of turmoil following death of the group's original leaders in the 1930's, renaming themselves The Patriots.
The Patriots are dedicated to creating a new world order through acts of blackmail and manipulation on an untold scale, unknown to most of the world. Such an example is the Y2K bug invented by The Patriots in the run up to the new Millennium. This was a cover up to install monitoring software on every computer in America through electronic security patches.
The Patriots' first appearance in the series is in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and their origins are further revealed in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Through covert and deceptive agents, such as Revolver Ocelot, The Patriots control and manipulate the characters and events of the Metal Gear Solid series. The Patriots will play a large role in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, in which they are involved in the uprising of Liquid Ocelot.
