Playboy shows game character digi-boobs for 4th year

Further affirming our belief that the entire human race is doomed, Playboy is publishing the fourth in their series of annual "Girls of Gaming" pictorials. Just in case you're still considering picking the issue up (it's the December one) these are not real girls playing game characters (still dorky but not as creepy), these are digital versions of characters showing off their digital bathing suit areas (just creepy).

Included this year are "Keaira" from Age of Conan, "Church & Black" from Clive Barker's Jericho, "Morenn" from The Witcher, "Yoko Retomoto" from Kane & Lynch, "A'Kanna" from Conan, "Sarah Morrison" from Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa and "Whyareyou Stillreadingthislist" from Please Get Your Life Together.

I don't understand why they waste the pages on this. If it was hot chicks dressed up as game chacters, thats one thing, but pixels /= hot.
I don't think anyone finds it hot except for a few basement dwellers, and they usually just get a woody from their daily surfing of wowwiki anyways.

Since many artist work in the gaming industry, many artists also model and render nudes. And before you go passing judgement on a whole group of people... THESE are 3D as well.

No, not at all, but that doesn't stop me from criticizing a medium. I enjoy art, video games, and playboy. I think thats qualifies me to criticize this.

I agree. Some of histories greatest artists have created some wonderful nudes that are in some of the worlds greatest museums.

Correct you are! But the problem is the disconnect from the drawing and modeling. These models are not meant to be art and they by no means are, playboy is an upper class beat mag. None of the pictures that have been in playboy the last 3 times they have done the video game model article have been as well done as your examples.

You are trying to bring your paintbrush to a discussion on the socially awkward topic of poorly done "3D" models in a porno mag. It just doesn't fit.

While it certainly doesn't help gaming get over its stigma of being a male dominated and focused industry, I don't see how it hurts it any.

to be honest, these look better than most playboy pics these days. they airbrush real women to look almost like this, only there's all the jaggies and artifacts left from the photoshopping, it sucks

I can't believe there's an audience for this. And it's funny how none of the women are from major franchises. Cortana? Samus? That doctor in Bioshock? Virtua Fighter ladies?

It's mostly an easy way for obscure games to get some publicity. How it benefits Playboy I'll never know.

Advertising money from the game companies featured.

Don't forget Samus, or the DOA and Soul Calibur girls.

The only people this is being sold to are those with no lives and no girlfriends.
