Fans of, well, Soccer, will be pleased as punch to learn that the remake of 1994's Sensible World of Soccer will finally be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade sometime this month. At least, it will if everything goes well, according to developer Codemasters.
Codemasters producer Jim Brown tells Eurogamer that the classic Soccer/Football title still has another round of submissions internally, as well as Microsoft's own certification process, but that the team anticipates the game's availability on XBLA within the month. According to Brown, delays on the game's release have been due to the multiplayer network code, which has been reworked significantly for stability. Sensible World of Soccer was deemed one of the ten most important games of all time back in March, by a panel including our very own Chris Grant.

Is it weird that the games I want most on EVERY console are the small live/arcade/micro download games, and not the ones that are supposed to be selling the console?

Sweet! The only footie game ever made I actually liked is on XBLA! All the others are about as fun as chewing glass IMO. I SO hope they kept the mode where you can kick a live grenade about.

Me too. Not all Americans are stupid, but they seem to have an monopoly on it. I hate football and football games, but Sensible Soccer is awesome.
All you've done Smurf is prove you're just another uneducated, cheeseburger inhaling tard.

That wasn't an anti-soccer comment. It was a "stop force feeding us these C-grade games and give us some classics" comment.
I like Soccer as well as Football and other sports. Next time, check your egos at the door.

And everybody knows if there's an "American Football" game that should come to XBLA, it should be Mutant League Football.

Wow, way to be an ass and insult yourself at the same time. If you think stupidity only afflicts Americans, then you should look in the mirror.

People rained on 2D as 3D took over BUT 2D can offer things 3D cant, its much easier to concentrate on the movement on the ball in 2D for example and its a genuinely different game play experience in 2D!
Yeah, I hat the current over hyped 3D football games that available but like many people who pined for the the likes of SS, it was just seen as nostalgia and not simply because some people prefer it that way!

BEST FOOTBALL GAME EVER
you could do it all with just one button! today games use a shit load of buttons and yet you can't always do what you want it to. This game was just some of the most fun i've had with a video game, and it is now one of the main reasons i can see myself buying a 360 for.
