PC Engine devotees arrested in Japan

"What, this?" A pilgrimage to the world's gaming mecca turns sour for a trio of German Swiss otaku who are arrested in Akihabara after posting PC Engine flyers (directing readers to the group's fansite) onto a construction site wall.

Which movie? The SAC movie or the Mamoru Oshii films?
I like the series a lot better. It has that Law and Order:SVU in the future vibe (or Law and Order:SVU has the Ghost in the Shell:SAC modern day vibe to it)

I like the series though too, hence my avatar.

Huh...How about that.
This may have been the shortest story I've ever read on Joystiq.

the cops must have been Megadrive or Super Famicom fanboys.

Usually its not permitted to advertise on those kinds of walls. If you've ever seen "NO BILLS" printed up, thats what it means.

they should have printed them up on tissue packets and handed them out on street corners. or stapled a bunch of them together and left them in phone booths.

Duh, they know the power of the PC Engine's old fanbase
They fear rebellion
The Japanese Liberal Democratic Party's hold on power is already tenuous, and they fear the uprising
The Japanese PC Engine-Hudson Party, with their dangerous policy of free Bomberman '94 for all

I think that's why the post put a question mark after Germans
And Okenny: Drinking in public in Japan is pretty much par for the course, hell it's one of the things I liked most about nights out there; add in smoking indoors and you've got the makings of a great time. There are things a lot more low-class than that, especially considering the price of drinks at bars in Tokyo.

I was watching the YouTube Video of the Halloween incident (linked to in the original story) and I can tell why they might have overreacted. Now, I don't know about this "Fuck the Gaijin" shit but foreigners need to understand when they are in a foreign land, they need to put their best foot forward and the people in the video was just giving out more energy then the typical Japanese person is used to. Also, drinking in public? That's about as low-class as you can get.

The series were better in some ways than the original movie. Great stuff either way.
