We're glad that Lego Stars Wars utilizes some waggle, but it's not the complete Jedi experience that some Star Wars junkies have been clamoring for. Yet, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gives us another hope for some better saber action. We might end up disappointed, though, because it seems that making a responsive Wii saber is not too easy. Jonathan Smith, one of the developers behind the Wii version of Lego Stars Wars, reports, "It's partly to do with the technical limitations of how the Wii actually works, but mostly to do with how difficult the task actually is ... the way you have to tackle the animation for a character that can mimic your movements is quite intimidating."
Don't cry doom and gloom just yet, though. Smith says, "I don't know how Force Unleashed is tackling it or what will happen in the future with Star Wars or other sword-based games. There's smarter people than me working on the platform ..." Let's hope it all works out, but even if it doesn't, we're still excited for the game.
