Screwjumper, part of THQ's Xbox Live Arcade lineup which caught us off guard a couple weeks ago, is ready to drop onto XBLA November 14. As you can see from the video above, Screwjumper gameplay involves dropping down a giant mineshaft, defusing bombs and racking up bonuses along the way. The single player mode features four different selectable characters and 20 levels. There's also a two-player offline multiplayer mode and support for four players across Xbox Live.
The game was created by Frozen Codebase, an indie studio in lovely Green Bay, Wisconsin, made up of designers and artists from companies you've definitely heard of. Frozen Codebase is currently working on another announced XBLA game called Elements of Destruction, also being published by THQ.
they arent gonna stop making games for the 360? really? just to bad i looked at the whole list of announced games for both systems, and not a single exclusive game, NOT ONE, looked good to me. the same cannot be said about the ps3, i see many great franchises putting out games soon, and a few new games that look freaking awesome. and no i'm not a fanboi of one system, i waited for a long time to decide between them both, and recently found out that though 360 had more games for the sole fact they had an extra year the ps3 is getting a bunch really soon. the numbers dont lie, ps3 is selling more in the first year than 360 did and yet they were the only "next gen" sytem available. besides all that my wife works for microsoft, i dont hate the stuff they make even though they have work to do before they are a solid hardware making company(rrod).
i dont like having to defend the ps3 against the 360 as i do think both systems are great, but when some ass comes and talks crap without any meaning, and says no one cares about FF and MGS makes you look stupid. i like both series of games but of the ones i want they are towards the bottom of the list right now, besides there are a bunch of games coming out before them 2.
funny thing about this is the 3fixme took a looong time for a single great game to come out, halo 3. there were no games that intreged me before it. but it is taking less time for the ps3 to get system sellers out there after launch than 360.
You have people who say they bought games they don't play yet condemn demos that let you play games before you buy them... OK? Then you have the one who haven't even touched the controls and condemn it. Then you have the people who are just "over it", their bored of the game already and it's yet to be published. When did we as gamers get so jaded? Honestly, it's the geekiest thing I've seen in a while and YES, I'm using geek pejoratively in this case.
I don't know if I like or hate this game but I love the fact that Indie games are being picked up and published by big names these days and you don't need to be a Jaffie (though he's doing his own respectable things) to be heard.
Looks exactly like that one Sonic the Hedgehog bonus stage where you fell down a vertical pit and collected rings or bounced on springs on the way down.

They should update that level in Earthworm Jim where you ride that thingy down the wormhole. That should be cool in HD! HD COWS!

Does anyone else think there's something vaguely suggestive about the title of this game?

This looks really 'meh' to me. I own too many awesome XBLA titles I don't play to warrant even demoing this.

looks like its begging for some wiimote or sixaxis controls... definatly the wrong system for this game

More like Snooze Jumper.

Gameplay footage left me clueless as ever. Is it just crashing through stuff or what? I don't get it.

It's a game based on that dive you do at the top of the waterfall in OOT. This, with all sincerity, is AWESOME!

Gameplay looks like some of the bonus levels in Tempest 2000.

I'd have a hard time paying $2 for it.

For some reason, it made me think of Trap Gunner...don't know why.
