I'm confused at what the glitch is. I take it all the orbs aren't just sitting there normally, but how does getting shot at by a turret while you just through the barrier make them all appear?

Ok, here's what happened. I watched the video a couple of times to be sure. Its quite clever.
1) First s/he used the portal to aim a turret at GLaDOS, shot it a couple of times to release all the innards you have to destroy. [So now all the components you toss in the fire are scattered about and ready to be destroyed]
2) Secondly, s/he of course ran around using portals to collect the components from their various locations, and put them in an accessible location.
3) S/he used the portal gun to put all the components in a centralized location by the fire where you are meant to destroy the components of GLaDOS.
4) S/he then used a portal to quickly get to the fire access control panel [the one with the red button].
5) Lastly, S/he used a two portals, one set up directly above the fire (blue) the second (orange) he kept shooting individually to target the components of GLaDOS sitting there by the fire. They go through the various orange portals he shot, and fall out of the one blue one and into the fire.
It's quite brilliant I must say, well done :)

SPOILER tag that shit! Some of us haven't completed the game yet...geezus. PC Gamer ruined Unreal for me years ago in the same fashion with a full page spread on the end boss while reviewing the game.

I'm glad I beat the game before I saw this, it's a huge ****ing spoiler. Nice job.

Yesterday I finished up all of the achievements on The Orange Box. The Portal ones (gold medals on all challenges) were fucking ridiculous.

ok, if you own the game and haven't seen that boss multiple times by now, you deserve to have it spoiled..

Way to ruin it for us with the red rings who haven't even played the game yet.
Maybe I should take you out of my RSS feeds...

@12
That's a pretty foolish thing to say. Whether it be like 13 who have the red rings, someone who's not as clever, or someone who just hasn't gotten around to playing it, there are tons of reasons not to have beaten the game yet. Not all of us LIVE to play video games, surprisingly, and we don't deserve to be spoiled just because we haven't beaten a game that's a few months old yet.

It's upsetting that I have to read spoilers here of all places. I love X3F, but recently they haven't been posting news, just random crap like this. Am I asking for too much if I ask for an apology for ruining Portal for me?
Seriously X3F, you guys are smarter than this. What are you thinking?

And to all who are whining about the game being ruined: if you can't tell from the title that the article is going to contain spoilers then blame your incompetence, not X3F.

yeah I agree with some of the people here. It's been a month since orange box came out and if you bought it and haven't played portal yet, well, you've probably seen more meaningful spoilers from reading about the companion cube.
It's only a 4 hour play through. I work and don't get much playtime, but I made a point to play portal.
The title is a dead give away. if you read that and STILL watched the video. then no sympathy.
It still doesn't spoil ANYTHING! it doesn't show you how to beat it. It's fricken hard.
It doesn't show you the ending.
It doesn't tell you ANYTHING about the plot.
seriously. Who didn't figure that's who would be the end boss. really.
You'll still be fresh to the ending. so stop complaining.
I haven't finished Bioshock yet. and if I didn't want to know the ending, I WOULDN'T watch these types of vids about it.
it's that simple.
but that's some serious skill there. and some pretty precise portals... PC. yes?

Yeah the titles kind of a giveaway, and if you havnt played the game yet don't watch any videos. As for this video - very impressive, but personally Im still more amazed at some of the videos Ive seen for the speed runs on the challenge chambers, some peoples brains must be working sooo fast the amount of portals they are shooting off. I'm gold on least portals and least steps but still have a couple of time ones to go and I'm losing faith that I will ever get them. Good thing it's such fun that I dont mind trying!!!

while #20 makes a good point, and some of you are crying *way* more than necessary, the overall feeling of the thread is right. there should've been a "[SPOILER]" at the beginning of the post title. lucky for me i beat GLaDOS a while ago.
now, x3f, if you guys spoil hl2, episodes 1 and/or 2 for me, i'll be ticked! :)

I dont really see what the big deal is. I can do it the regular way in only a little over a minute. I could probably break the mark if I tried real hard.

Nice job calling yourself an idiot, idiot.
And telling me "defeat GLaDOS in less than a minute" doesn't inform me of anything relevant.
