So the highlight of Firmware 2.0 seems to be those themes. This feels a bit 1997 to me, this themes thing. But I posted a poll about asking: Don't you think this all business is a bit overhyped?

uh, probably not the right blog to point this out, but the pictures shown of the theme ("drawing" with light) are a direct rip-off of Sprint's recent print/TV campaign...

I'm still dissapointed about 2 things:
1 - no profile 1.1
2 - the auto resolution is still not working right
When i play Call of Duty 4, i have to tell the PS3 that my tv can only output 1080p or else the game plays in 720! But if i do that, any game thats in 720 plays in 480 because 720 is disabled. I shouldn't have to select my resolution eveytime i change games! And yes my tv's native resolution is 1080p and has HDMI 1.3 and i'm using an HDMI 1.3 cable.

Something is wrong with your TV. Auto-resolution setup has worked on every TV I've connected my PS3 too.
You need to set every box (in your case) in the video settings if you're going to adjust them. Then the game will select the resolution that is best (which will usually be 720p).

I've already tried it like you said before i had to force it but if my tv can do 1080p (whats even more anoying is that 1080p is the native resolution and its only a few months old) and the PS3 is set to allow for all resolutions, then it should pick the highest without my intervention. Its not like I have any problems when its running 1080p and COD4 supports 1080p. Any help if there's a resolution would be approciated.

Remote play. Love the concept. It works great on my PSP/PS3 right up until I try and switch the thing off remotely. Oh, it switches off fine and then 5,4,3,2,1 PS3 powers back on !!
Anyone else had this problem ? The PSP is off and I touch nothing. The only way I can put the PS3 into standby and make it stay there (stay PS3, Stay ! Good console...) is to deactivate the Remote play setting.

Hourray!! Finally we have customizable music playlists on the PS3. I was surprised to see that they added customizable photo lists too. RIGHT ON! Way to go Sony! No more connecting my iPod to my receiver. I can even turn my TV off now while listening to my favourite playlists -- cool!
I can say it now that the PS3 upconverts DVDs, plays HD Games, Blu-ray and stores and plays back customizable music playlists and photos -- that the PS3 is THE best multimedia device to hit the home theatre since, well, ...the AV receiver! Seriously, great job adding value to this console, Sony! Every home should have one!
