Despite claims to the contrary, last September's Two Worlds was not the most epic RPG ever. In fact, it was pretty terrible, plagued by broken combat, dated graphics, and dialog that had us clawing at our ears just to make it stop. But like a parent who refuses to listen to reason and instead continues to believe that his or her child can do no wrong, SouthPeak has patted its little terror on the head and released a demo for the game onto Xbox Live. Promising "a huge portion of Two Worlds' expansive single-player map," the publisher no doubt hopes to persuade players to pick up the RPG before it is ultimately swallowed into Oblivion, but we urge our readers to stay strong.
On top of the demo, SouthPeak has also confirmed that work is underway on a patch "coming soon" for both the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Two Worlds, addressing more than 50 different bugs and other issues in the game. We scrolled through the list, however, and saw no mention of fun being added into the experience, so we think we'll pass.

Hmm, PC Gamer gave two worlds a pretty good score. Are the 360 and the PC versions that different? I wouldn't imagine they would change the dialog. But then PC gamers are more accustomed to bugs in their games by this point.

First off, the graphics were pretty bad, the character models horrible, the dialog was horrible...
With all that, one of my favorite 360 games. An expansive open world, with lots of different weapons (that you can continuously updrade), armors, spells. None of that level scaling BS that we had to deal with in Oblivion (loved Oblivion btw). In two worlds if you ran into a dragon, you better be a high enough level to take it on. There is a sense of danger. The quests were pretty good and had a decent story, once you got past the dialog sending you on these quests.
I'll be the first to admit it was unpolished by Oblivion standards, but as an open action-rpg I thought it was fantastic.

Cool. I can finally play this game without having to waste a gamefly slot on it.

Actually this game is quite fun, its like Oblivion's dumber brother. I had a great time with it, just beat it last night (Xbox360). Never touched the multiplayer. Yeah, it has its share of problems, but they never stopped me from finishing the game. Worth a look.

Someone I know insists that Two Worlds is not just good, but a great game. This same someone is a Microsoft fanboy in every sense of the word, not because he defends this game for being microsoft exclusive, but for believeing that the only reason a 360 would get a RRoD, is because the owner wasn't "Faithful" to it. The guy is stubborn on his words that he won't listen to logic.
I've learned that when this person talks about games, to immedietly disregard what he says. I'd suggest that everyone else do the same to similar people. Ultimatly, when a games sucks, there is little to salvage from that train wreck. The publisher should realize that, and let the bad game go away.

Um, yeah. That story is so believable. (laugh) I have a "friend" who's the President of Kuwait. No, really! My other friend is Milo Jovovich.

I loved it when a random Gamespot employee wanted me to put a reserve down on this crapfest "It's even better than Oblivion!"

I got this and thought it was pretty good. Talked my friend into getting it and he loved it except for the "too easy" end boss. They should have scaled his level. I hope the patch fixes the framerate.

Worst game purchasing decision I ever made. That includes the fact that I purchased Unlimited Saga on PS2, and a Virtual Boy.
Big issues with this game being on the 360, all stemming from one problem... It's a port from a PC title. I mean, the only way I could get the frame rate acceptable is by turning off grass, reducing the clip plane, reducing shadow / sky effects, etc. None of this is accessible from an in-game menu either, you have to open a command console by a key combination and enter command lines to do so. I shouldn't have to tweak a console game, it should just work. Either way, the game seemed pretty dated as well. I played for an hour, and it just didn't hold at all. I was trying justify the $60 spent and I couldn't do it.
From what I've heard though, once you can look past all the graphical shit that's "next-gen", and the horrendous story/script, the actual depth of the game is amazing. You really have to be a masochist to get to that point though IMO.

Is there a Third World where this game doesn't suck?

It wasn't that bad, though it certainly could have been better.

I have a friend that swears by this game, saying that while it is flawed, its a fun RPG experience if all you want to do is hack and slash monsters.
Another friend and I make fun of him for it, because Oblivion is better in pretty much every way.

oh, I helped a little that I bought the special edition for $40 used at Gamestop. I wouldn't have spent $70 on that... hells no.

I actually enjoyed it. It's not perfect, and it's not Oblivion, but it's not horrible either. Some of those fixes will make the game MUCH better.

Worst. Fucking. Game. Ever. When I put this into my Xbox on the day of release, I looked back over to the table where my wallet was resting (with the receipt) and started crying hysterically.

I haven't bought Two Worlds yet - glad to see there's a demo coming -- AND the promise of a patch makes it more attractive to me.
