tbh i think should have really revised this game before they let it out before rock band, and deffinately should have revised the song packs, noones gunna buy them.... =/ velvet revolver and foo fighters, what were they actually thinking.
i think i may just sell GH3 when i've completed hard, i need to do metalicca "one" lol
then i'll buy rock band on 360 when its out :)

These tracks in no way compare to the complete Who's next and Metallica black albums which will hit in the first 2 weeks of rock bands release.

GH3 = Teh Loser

I haven't played guitar hero but it seems strange that they wouldn't put baker st, my hero, monkey wrench, or learn to fly in a foo fighters pack. i guess everlong might not work too well.

Monkey Wrench was in GH II. That might be part of the rationale.

"Learn to Fly" is going to be in Rock Band. Personally, I'd like to play "Iron and Stone," it's from one of their import singles. You can hear a sample here:

I think they're taking it laying down, as they haven't altered the pricing or options structure. $2 for a good song is not a bad price, but they're still forcing you to buy three songs, only one of which you may be interested in.

Exactly. I thought competition was to supposed to exert downward pressure on pricing.

Sadly, I think you're going to find GH3 to be the cheaper DLC of the 2 rock-type rythm games. Expect Rockband's DLC to be as expensive or even more expensive.

Yeah, good luck competing with Rock Band where I get full album downloads with new content every single week. Makes GH3 efforts look silly.

Waiting for Rock Band....don't get me wrong I've been playing Guitar Hero since the first one came out...the song list is great but I feel the note charts are a mixed bag and they made the timing easier. Add that with stupid hyper mode and you have scrubs thinking they're great without doing ANY hammer-on or pull-offs.
Hopefully they'll add a patch that will allow the Rock Band guitar to work with GHIII then I'll pick up the stand alone game.

I'd pay 500 pts for 4 Foo Fighters songs. That's not totally unreasonable.

That is, if I decide not to sell GHIII. I'm still on the fence.

It's 3 songs, not 4. And yes it is still totally unreasonable.

Oh, you're right. Still, if any of these songs are half as fun to play as Monkey Wrench was, I'd still consider it.

And people bitching about the prices of the song packs: get over it, they're not coming down. Blame the thousands of people that set the precedent with GHII's DLC.

You know Fernando, it's funny to know that while I agree with you that rock has gone into the crapper, we still probably don't listen to the same stuff.

Let the attempted fleecing of our wallets begin! I hope everyone who bought the GH2 DLC is happy. I'm staying away from GH3 for this very reason. Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me.

At least, American gamers are "only" being fleeced for $6.25 per pack. Despite the fact that the Canadian dollar is now worth more than the US dollar, we're still being charged $7.75 for 500 pts up here. I'm not buying _any_ DLC until they fix that.

Harmonix seems really dedicated to filling Rock Band's DLC library. I'm hoping they choose a price point a bit lower than over $2 a song.

Thankfully they won't force us to buy 3-song packs, either.

I'd rather put that $6.25 towards a Billy Barou from Moe's.

I was wondering why the GH3 ads on TV featuring Slash had them playing Velvet Revolver's Slither, when it (nor any other Velvet Relvover song) wasn't anywhere on the track list.

why does it always have to come down to rock band vs guitar hero?

The option for more tracks = win for consumer

I understand we all want everything for free, but life doesn't work that way. $6.25 for 3 songs is fair game I think. Considering that's the same price as a combo at most fast food places, and you'll play these three songs for a total time much more than how long that Double Whopper combo satisfied you. Hell, most action figures at the store now-a-days are $8. Stop crying you babies.

I'd rather they upload a patch to remove some of the suckiness. I've played the PS3 and 360 versions and neither has the proper feel (although the 360 version was closer to right).

MTV/EA should make a guitar-only pack of Rock Band. It'd wipe GH3 from the face of the earth (and I think we'd be the better for it).

Oh well, Consider both bought. All I care about as fun note charts.

Awesome. It's nice to see some of Slash's fretwork on GHIII, and as a download. This will be the first pack I'll download when I get the game.

But what I want to see is an SOAD song pack or even better, a Metallica song pack(as long as it has songs from the first 4 albums), then I would instantly buy them.

It may just be me but the Foo Fighters pack that I bought seems like it's all bass. All the original songs sound fine to me, but all the songs in the pack just seem to have way to much bass. Anyone else notice this? Great band by the way. Just saw them live on Monday night.
