Japanese Wii Fit trailers show snowboarding, jogging, more
GameTrailers has uncovered a whole buttload of Japanese videos for Wii Fit that show off some previously unknown game modes. A snowboarding game, shown above, has the player turn the board perpendicular to the screen and lean left and right to navigate a simple slalom course. For those less inclined to "X-TREME" sports, the jogging mini-game simulates the, er, thrilling world of jogging, complete with fellow joggers to keep pace with. Interestingly, the beginning of the jogging video shows a Wii remote being placed in a pocket, possibly to detect vertical movement (and setting up a surprising answer to the old query, "Is that a Wii remote in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?")
An extended Japanese trailer for the game shows more scenes from the above game modes, as well as some short snippets of a previously unknown tightrope-walking game and some sort of boxing trainer. Check it out after the break..

Few things on the internet make me actually laugh out loud. This was one of them.
Loki @ Nov 9th 2007 3:07PM
Supercraptacular......
Gamebreaker @ Nov 9th 2007 4:13PM
This will not do well, at least in the U.S. This is Virtual Boy 2.0 for Nintendo. What crap.
Chris @ Nov 9th 2007 3:16PM
Screw the haters. WiiFit is going to be awesome.
Blazur @ Nov 9th 2007 4:04PM
I am one of those haters. There is no limit to how lame this looks...
Ren @ Nov 9th 2007 3:16PM
I actually think it's pretty cool.
Lemmiwinks @ Nov 9th 2007 3:19PM
I think I know how we're gonna control the next 1080...
flameofdoom666 @ Nov 9th 2007 3:22PM
Its awesome for a non-game. I am a hardcore gamer and I may pick it up because it seems so revolutionary. I will be playing Too Human and Wii Fit at around the same time. Then Brawl will take my life overrrrr!
Neebs @ Nov 9th 2007 3:25PM
Snow boarding? This game is starting to sound...dare I say fun.
thethirdmoose @ Nov 9th 2007 3:33PM
Hey! You said the F-word!
XDragon @ Nov 9th 2007 3:35PM
This looks like it has a lot of potential!
The Wii is staring to look like the NES did; there were a lot more game specific contollers released that were really fun to use.
I had a friend with drawers full of different NES controllers and it was always a fun to visit.
Anyone remember the power pad - good times lol!
OM @ Nov 9th 2007 3:40PM
But flooding the market with too many peripherals is a bad thing.
samfish @ Nov 9th 2007 3:44PM
It didn't hurt the NES.
And the U-Force sucked. I still have nightmares.
XDragon @ Nov 9th 2007 4:09PM
I do think its a bad thing because i don't think people want to spend the extra money on the control for 1 or 2 games but for those who did, it was fun. That's why i went to my buddies to play instead of buying them :)
jason @ Nov 9th 2007 3:36PM
Anyone else notice the radio receiver thing sitting on the ground to the right of the TV in the top pic? I hope that's not something else I have to plug into my Wii like the sensor bar.
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Nov 9th 2007 3:53PM
I hope your joking...thats the Wii...
Admiral_Mike @ Nov 9th 2007 4:04PM
It's the wii, in stealth mode.
creid @ Nov 9th 2007 3:48PM
I was quick to decry Wii Fit as New Nintendo garbage. But it looks like Nintendo might be hiding a game in this tech demo after all.
Superstar90 @ Nov 9th 2007 4:01PM
Super Mario SNOWBOARDING!!! COMING SOON!!!
we can never have enough mario sports games
Rob Accomando @ Nov 9th 2007 4:01PM
the snowboard game seems like it would be fun. Almost like that arcade snowboarding game. (forget the name)
Spartacus @ Nov 9th 2007 4:09PM
As much as I don't want it to, it's looking like Wii Fit will not only sell, but sell WELL.
Dang it Nintendo, I want to like you, but make some GAMES, not interactive tech demos produced to sell more periphrials!
Rubang B (BRUSH WITH FAME) @ Nov 9th 2007 8:49PM
Nintendo isn't making games? Where the fuck have you been? Whatever you do, don't walk into a GameStop and ask what the long lines are for.
Spartacus @ Nov 11th 2007 10:38AM
I guess your rabid Wii fanboyism clouded your understanding of the use of hyperbole, but don't worry, I expected no less from you.
HectorTheValiant @ Nov 9th 2007 4:16PM
I'm surprised Shag hasn't showed up yet with his usual comments...
Shagittarius @ Nov 9th 2007 4:24PM
testing testing....
I hope the people that snowboard in Wii fit hit a virtual tree and virtually die.
HectorTheValiant @ Nov 9th 2007 4:27PM
Aww yes...the bitter abnd jealous sony troll we've come to expect...
Your jobs done now...go back to Home!
JB87 @ Nov 9th 2007 4:29PM
That's actually pretty neat, although the video hurts my eyes. Too much white!
To those complaining about it being lame, or being a useless peripheral: are you being forced to buy one? Is the fact that some people will enjoy it hurting you? No? Didn't think so.
CiQuat @ Nov 9th 2007 4:40PM
I wonder if this will have problems on carpet like regular scales do, since the carpet will absorb some of the force under the bottom of the balance board...
Count Noobula @ Nov 9th 2007 4:47PM
This actually looks like it would be fun. My friends and I are all into martial arts, and we always have an argument as to who has the better coordination/balance. This could be used to tell the difference.
Aside from that, my gf would come over every night just to play this. Then after that..... you know what I mean.
velocitystrike @ Nov 9th 2007 7:51PM
She'd go home?
Mr Khan @ Nov 9th 2007 4:49PM
Yeah, i too was skeptical about this, thinking it more of an interactive Excercise video than a game, until i saw these videos
This now looks like an actual game
And all who compare it to Virtual Boy, that's like comparing PS3 to 3DO, neither of what we have now can compare to how craptacular the originals were
Mr Khan @ Nov 9th 2007 7:54PM
Also, did anyone notice that WiiFit will install some sort of Channel onto the menu?
Rubang B (BRUSH WITH FAME) @ Nov 9th 2007 8:52PM
Yeah they discussed it somewhere, but I forget where. You'll use the disc channel to actually load the game, but it'll install its own Wii Fit channel so you can manage your data and submit it and whatever else without the disc in. This way you can hop right back into Galaxy without getting off your lazy-but-now-fit ass to swap discs.
jopojelly @ Nov 9th 2007 5:28PM
They might as well make a ddr for it
Rob Accomando @ Nov 9th 2007 5:28PM
maybe Sony will come out with a tilt board to play Lair. haha
Vince UK @ Nov 9th 2007 6:58PM
Looks pretty naff.
Maybe i've got no imagination.
velocitystrike @ Nov 9th 2007 7:49PM
Maybe you HAVE NO SOUL.
I jokes.
Erm, one thing I noticed is the way they select some sort of proprietary Wii Fit channel from the Wii Menu that isn't the Disc Channel...does it install a new channel onto the Wii or something?

Snowboarding,Yoga? Don't take me wrong but the Wiifit thing and the weight controller are bound to be as necessary for the Wii as the Eye toy was for the PS2.
Vince UK @ Nov 9th 2007 8:49PM
AKA Eye Toy Kinetic.

shivr @ Nov 9th 2007 9:15PM
hmmmm, not really a game, but might be a good substitute for a gym membership...
mocax @ Nov 9th 2007 9:26PM
The big question is, can the board take the force of a 200lbs guy jogging
AC @ Nov 9th 2007 10:36PM
Great drinking game, same as Wii Sports. I can't wait to get this and have some of my girlfriend's friends over and shake it like there's no tomorrow.
Thank you, Nintendo. Thank you.
gonk @ Nov 9th 2007 5:48PM
hey, someone finally thought of a good use for wii fit! +1
Cuja @ Nov 10th 2007 2:13AM
Wave of the future for gaming. Instead of relying on thumbs for interaction gameplay, we now have hand-arm motion, and eventually whole body motion. But this is best achieve using motion sensing camera. That way your not buying a whole bunch of closet clutter that the Wii is going to bring.
License to ill @ Nov 10th 2007 10:21AM
I cant see wiifit being a huge seller...
GANNONSMASH @ Nov 10th 2007 10:26PM
It looks awesome, but I probably won't play it. The technology is pretty cool, though.
