Mass Effect launch trailer elevates excitement to critical mass

For those not lucky enough to snag an early, blue light special copy of Mass Effect, we humbly offer you this incredible launch trailer to slake your thirst. The short video does a great job of showcasing the game's ambitious cinematic qualities - we just hope it doesn't collapse under the weight of its own hype. Remember, you're just nine short days away from getting some strange tail in space.

Don't ever blame KOTOR II on Bioware... they deserve more respect than that...

I preferred the short spot to this, but what stuck out was the mature-sounding "M for mature" usually it sounds like some dropout trying to sell you poppers.

I have been looking forward to this game for some time. Why...WHY did my Xbox decide to RROD? It's been fine since launch, I mean, common!! At least it was kind enough to wait till after Halo, but still...

Same thing happened to me. I got the RROD after doing local co-op on Halo 3 and Earth Defense Force 2017. That will teach me to share.

That trailer is like 85% cinematics and the cinematics are good but not awesome.
Not blown away by this.

Yeah, cuz when you play Final Fantasy, those cinematics just really showcase how the game looks.
Try pre-rendered verse in-game footage, dude.
As embassy said, "try again".
If this game and/or Assassin's Creed isn't the closest thing to "playing a movie", I have no idea what will.

I didn't say prerendered. I said they're cinematics. And they're cinematics. It's obvious there is no gameplay in many of these shots, unless it plays like Dragon's Lair.
Just because something isn't prerendered doesn't mean it isn't getting huge advantage by not being interactive. Look at the replays in GT4 (or GT5) versus the graphics while actually controlling the car.
These graphics are not "all that" for cinematics, even ones that aren't pre-rendered.

FUCK
I was THIS close to convincing myself this game wasn't too special and I should just buy Assassin's Creed, NFS: ProStreet, Smackdown vs Raw, and Super Mario Galaxy only...
Where am I going to get this movie.

Why would you buy NFS prostreet? The demo sucked. I didn't particularly like Dirt, but Dirt is miles ahead of NFS (pun intendedd).

I'd highly recommend playing the Pro Street demo. It's complete ass. Rallisport Challenge 2 for Xbox looked and played far better. Sadly, it doesn't work in 360 BC.

Assassin's Creed & then Mass Effect. These might be the best two weeks of the whole year.

Jesus people, it's the same cliched explosion filled crap with punching and questionable acting (except Keith David, but then he could read his grocery list and be awesome) trailers you get at the cinema. That's what a cinematic game means these days is it?
The last great story Bioware wrote was KOTOR, I was hoping sci-fi was their strong point after the abortion that was Hordes of the Underdark, but between this mindless trailer and that lesbian "love" scene..... I just don't know, I was really looking forward to this as well.
I mean how do you make two chicks doing it, crap? I can't understand how that's even remotely possible but they did it.
