Tivo alert: Discovery airing 'Rise of the Videogame' Nov. 21
FiringSquad reminds us that when we're not busy playing the video game or writing mean things about the video game, we should be watching a documentary about the video game and the rising thereof. Being the fickle and narrow-minded individuals that we are, it's fair to say it's just about the only thing on the Discovery Channel we'd care to see rising, even if they did write it as one word. The first episode in the five-hour long mini-series, which delves into the game industry's history and its significant contributors, airs Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 8PM, with subsequent episodes following on the Wednesdays thereafter.

Sounds promising. The Discovery Channel usually does a very good job on their documentaries, so I'll definitely check it out.

I hope they do it's history justice and give credit for videogames where it is due, to Ralph Baer and not that fucker for his "pong" game, I dare not utter his name.

a poor choice in their end, to air it the same day as the release of crysis and the day after the new mario.
Skippy @ Nov 13th 2007 12:40PM
Mario Galaxy came out yesterday. This airs next week.

I bet $10 that they mention Doom.
p-diddy @ Nov 13th 2007 1:17AM
Really?? In a 5 part, one hour per part, tv show soley focused on video games you think they MIGHT mention doom? Maybe?
C'mon. I know Wolfenstein was first, but sooooooo many more people played doom. Of COURSE they'll mention it (but not in the first segment). My guess is segment 3.
Sorry, it just seemed like a silly comment. That's like saying they might mention Mario.

This is pretty cool stuff. Itis a shame that the Discovery Channel doesn't do things like this more often! I'll definitely be DVRing it.
