Midnight launch for Rock Band keeps Best Buys open late
We've already traveled to the land of blue, bleak, and reek to check out Rock Band, so with the in-store buzz definitely there, we had to think a midnight launch would be coming -- and it is. 75 locations in 32 states open their doors at midnight to arm you with your "rocksenal," which is actually more than were participating in the Guitar Hero III launch.
So if you're worried about potentially securing a copy (thanks to EA's boast of confidence regarding their stock), this might be a possible solution for you. And after all that sweet unannounced, but coming DLC spied from the pages of OXM, how is anyone with a pulse not excited? Full listing of stores participating rest behind the break.

grr this kinda makes me angry.....
they are doing midnight releases for games like this....yet they didnt do shit for super mario galaxy.....at least around my area....
nothing against rock band..that looks awesome...its just kinda dissapointing how some things wrok out
Buckshot @ Nov 13th 2007 9:59AM
Of course not a store in the Live Music Capitol of The World. Where's the Austin love?
Farseer (GDI) @ Nov 13th 2007 10:08AM
I'm not judging, but I think that the target demographic for a Mario product is different than that of Rock Band. I bet that they were thinking an enforced bed-time might be an obstacle that would decrease numbers.
I love Mario games, don't get me wrong. I'm a video game fanboy. I'm also a realist.
Farseer (GDI) @ Nov 13th 2007 10:08AM
reply was meant for jman. Sorry buckshot.
Dreamcicle @ Nov 13th 2007 2:16PM
I'm shocked too. Rock band? Sure as hell doesn't look interesting at all to me.
Clack @ Nov 13th 2007 4:33PM
My first thought as well. Its very likely that this will outsell Mario this week, and downright impossible that it'll sell more over its lifetime.
jorojoserojas @ Nov 13th 2007 10:44AM
You guys aren't that far from Dallas, right?
I know here (Houston) might be too far off, but I guess that depends on how badly you want this game.
And yeah, Austin should have totally had a midnight launch. An epic launch, at that!
jcmschwa @ Nov 13th 2007 10:53AM
that's the first thing i thought of too. if not for the live musical capital-ness of it all, then i'd at least wonder why they would skip out on one of the largest schools in the nation. hook 'em!
dantebk @ Nov 13th 2007 10:08AM
What about people who want Rock Band but also have a job?
Does this mean the stores with midnight launches will be sold out during normal business hours later in the day? Bummer.
XanthouS @ Nov 13th 2007 10:15AM
You've had six months to place a pre-order.
jduke @ Nov 13th 2007 10:25AM
Can I pick up Mass Effect at midnight too?
DaveC @ Nov 13th 2007 10:28AM
If you live in Europe, that's how you can't be excited.
whymog @ Nov 13th 2007 10:54AM
The fact that I'm seriously considering the ten-hour round trip drive from Eugene to Bellevue suggests things about my character that I'm not quite comfortable confronting.
Seriously this game is going to make everyone I know drop out of classes, break up with their boy/girlfriends, stop giving a shit about cutting their hair and spend the next couple years rocking the fuck out.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Nov 13th 2007 11:06AM
Its a midnight launch people. If you DON"T live there, just go to your local store 10 hours later and pick it up without the hassle.
Seriously.
FrankTheCrank @ Nov 13th 2007 11:23AM
eBay squatters get your tents ready!
Darkseid @ Nov 13th 2007 12:26PM
Uhh...Rock Band...Yeah, thats nice and all, but ummm...since Best Buy will already be open on the 20th, can I get a midnight copy of Mass Effect instead?!?
Pete @ Nov 13th 2007 12:53PM
I predict this will be a flop of an event. Seriously, is there THAT much excitement for this game? It's not a console launch or Halo or Zelda, so...no.
whymog @ Nov 13th 2007 1:10PM
If this game isn't making you piss yourself on regular intervals in brutal anticipation, you aren't a real person.
The hype machine behind this game is a disgustingly huge juggernaut fueled by MTV Networks. There was even a VH1 special on it. They're doing their damnedest to make this game sell through the roof.
As well they should - it's pretty much consensus now that Neversoft fucked up most good things about Guitar Hero with the third iteration, so we're due for a kickass rhythm game. And I'm one of the people who wanted both games to succeed and be good. :(
honkyjesusownsu @ Nov 13th 2007 3:15PM
I'm not excited.
Maybe it's the fact you play with toy instruments while being told this is "rocking" - I could rent a dozen games for a long time or buy some toy instruments?
Easy choice.
Cooler @ Nov 13th 2007 4:05PM
Why all the haters? If it doesn't interest you, don't go!
I would go if I didn't already have it pre-ordered somewhere else :(
