Zero Punctuation guy makes games too
Sick of Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw trashing your favorite games each week on Zero Punctuation? Well, you might have an opportunity to level the playing field a little. In addition to being a snarky British journalist, Yahtzee is also a snarky British game designer. His site hosts a number of adventure games he's created over the years, but his latest creation -- TRILBY: Art of Theft -- has been published over at The Escapist.
Unlike Yahtzee's other titles, Art of Theft is actually a platforming game, where players must perform a number of stealthy heists by infiltrating facilities and looting them without tripping alarms. For those interested in playing, we fully encourage critical reviews through the medium of YouTube, using clever illustrations, sharp wit, big words, and funny accents.
Or, if you like it, that's totally fine too.

Yahtzee is the guy that made '5 Days a Stranger' and '7 Days a Skeptic'? Wow.
Check 'em both out. They're both pretty cool games, if flawed. I played them both a few years ago, and wasted a few hours completing them. I might have to download the other two games in the series, just so I can say I've completed it. ^_^
Be warned though: these are not top of the range, next gen games. They're drawn in MS Paint.

Looks pretty lame. Kind of like this guy's reviews.

you sir need help if you think yahtzee has bad reviews

5 Days a Stranger was great. 7 Days a Skeptic was alright. The third in the series, Trilby's Notes, was also great, which made it all the more disappointing when the series finale, 6 Days A Sacrifice, was a pretentious mess. All IMHO of course. The first three are still worth playing though if you enjoy Sierra/Lucasarts style point-and-click adventure games.

I'd just like to say that Ben's first 4 adventure games featuring Trilby are amazing! I sat down and played all 4 in a few days, and was throughly engrossed by the depth of writing and downright "freaky" imagery. (They are horror based genre)
Warning, if you're the kind of guy (or gal), who has to have more than 16 colors on the screen at any given second, or the game "sux0rs", then this stuff probably isn't for you, but if you're someone who can get into a good game with good writing and genuine suspense, check out 5 Days a Stranger. Here's Ben's Disclaimer about the game...

For those of you who have gotten used to me injecting a sense of humor into all my games, prepare to be disappointed. This was more of an experiment in programming and characterization than a humorous effort. So, don't come running to me when you expect a light-hearted runaround, and find instead insane ghosts and people being murdered in nasty ways.

I just finished 5 Days and am working my way through Trilby's Notes, this should be excellent.
NeuroMan42 @ Nov 13th 2007 2:39PM
Great old-school games and great reviews.

I think Yahtzee is one of the funniest humorists on the internet since the days of Lore Sjöberg and Old Man Murray.

I haven't been in the internet that long but I agree he is one of the funniest especially since AVGN stop being funny, screwattack is more of annoying and Little kuriboh well I don't know if he is still making YGO:TAS episodes.
Also I think Masako X and Vegeta died whatever happened to Naruto the abridged series?,effing youtube.Youtube is so full of Aids and failure these days.
LaughingTarget @ Nov 13th 2007 4:23PM
I'm expecting a game that is completely original in every shape, form and fashion...wait, it isn't. Not as easy to come up with something fresh as it is to insult others for cookie cutters, eh?
Your Ad here 555-1923 @ Nov 13th 2007 4:24PM
Especially because you are paying 50$ for it,Oh wait it's free.
Zsavior @ Nov 13th 2007 4:36PM
LOL @Laughing Target well played Well played indeed. What is the saying, Those who can do those who can't Bitch and moan on the net about the rest that are doing, and how they are ruining the industry oh and uh,.... teach.
Rubang B (BRUSH WITH FAME) @ Nov 13th 2007 4:42PM
I'm definitely czeching these out when I get home. I trust this guy's opinion on games more than I trust myself.
Leminnes @ Nov 13th 2007 4:48PM
He's british by birth but now lives in australia, by the way. Not sure if he'd still be considered "british." He moved there when he was twenty according to his site... not that it matters. >_>
Either way, I knew he made games, I've never played then, though. I'll have to take a looksee.
mccomber @ Nov 13th 2007 4:56PM
Rather than a critical review, I'll simply post a crudely photoshopped image of what I believe Yahtzee's response would probably look like.

his review on the orange box shows his true self.. he had the same complaints on half-life that he did on Zelda Phantom Hourglass but slammed that series while kinda just saying, it is what it is for Half-life.. but he then knew what the real truth was.. Portal.
Give the man some cake, Portal GOTY, and my avatar a Mario hat...

i had more fun with 7 days a skeptic than with silent hill 2.
