Actually the problem is that the game looks like ass on medium settings. Really, give it a try.

I can run CoD 4 and Bioshock on medium/high settings and they look amazing. Crysis does not scale well. You'd either have to be really rich and/or really stupid to drop a lot of cash upgrading your computer for one game when what you've got runs every other game on the market just fine. Yes, it's great that the game will still look great in two or three years, because that's when I'm going to buy it.

I have a 3GHz Core 2 processor, 8800GTS 320 MB, and 2GB of RAM, and this game doesn't give me better image quality than other games at the same performance. It gives you amazing graphics if you have the hardware, but performance-wise it really isn't all that.

Soo, why is this even a post? lets see if we can find everything some reviews had problems with and put them all together? Wow! Doing that with any game would make it look bad and most people won't read the actual reviews they just look at this negative post and it will get bad press....wtf. My machine was 2k, runs everything maxed out, now a days you could get my machine for a bit cheaper and have everything maxed out. Build it yourself its cheaper then any shop or just go to a local comp shop and have them build your system, most shops only charge a 100$ build fee and will walk you through on what to buy.

We were lucky enough to get Crysis early in Australia for once. We didnt get jericho for weeks and the witcher so on. Anyway ive been playing it between work hours when I can and it runs perfect. I agree with some of these comments (the goddamn helicopter!) but people are missing a big point.
Once you get used to the other powers and are able to use the fluently it is incredible fun.
I built my computer months ago in anticipation before it got delayed. It cost me about 1400 AUS and the with the strong dollar it wouldnt much different in America.
8800 gtx 4 gig ram at 800mhz q6600 2.4 and a 74 gig raptor. Resolution at 1440x900 and everything bar AA maxed.
From what I understand (not a great deal) The 360 and ps3 are going to struggle due to their GPIS.
PC has always been better with more customisation and better graphics.
Even if you wait a few years buy this game you will not be dissapointed.

Better graphics, at a relatively much higher price.

Sorry, but consoles give you better graphics than any computer of the same price will.

Bunch of jerks... yes you and others like you. The ones complaining about this ground breaking game and technology purely because your system can't cope with it.

It wasn't MADE FOR YOU.. get it? You have NO RIGHTS to a game inherently (unless you buy a console). Crytek chose the level they wanted to aim for and did it better than any other developer in 30 years of videogames.

They are pushing the tech and advancing games (yes it IS about the gameplay not just the graphics, anyone who thinks differently has either not even played it or tried the demo on a 4 year old system and the 5fps made them negative).

Just stop putting this game down based on your system's lack of power.

And as for those that can run it ok but keep saying 'just like far cry with better graphics' you have no right to even be playing computer games because frankly you have no idea how much effort and polish has been put into this title. Yes it has some rough edges, yes the AI can be screwy at times but the overall effect is total immersion 100% of the time. I've played it ten hours already and i'm not even half way through, and could easily reply that all over again in a variety of different ways and most importantly it would always feel compelling and dynamic.

The entire environment is stunning, not in a 'pretty architecture' type way like Gears Of War or something but in it's cohesive natural beauty. The lighting and shadows are way in advance of any other game, the physics are on everything not just 'selected objects', it has the most dynamic gameplay out there, i've had more 'jaw dropping' moments in this game than any other that I've played in over 25 years of gaming.

Trust me, in a year or two when more people actually have the hardware to run this puppy over 30fps (pref nearer 60) on VERY HIGH (or config hack) they will realise how very wrong they were to put it down as 'another far cry'.

Lastly I may add Crysis, just like Far Cry, is a game that gives you back what you put into it, i've read about people getting pissed because they try to rush to the next checkpoint and 'get lost'... I think they are missing the point somewhat, this game is all about immersing yourself in the world and interacting, PLAYING is actually too trivial a word for what you feel in this game, it's an experience, and just like if you wer doing this shit in real life you do not run through every area blasting things just so you can finish it before xmas... you savour every damn moment and use your imagination (remember that?), that's when the game comes alive and you realise that pretty much everything else is a mere toy after playing this game.

And as Jeff said on the last page, importantly, if Crytek suffer negative backlash for TRYING to advance the entire industry then you load of low system power whingers will be doing the entire gaming public a disservice by making all companies think twice before going that extra mile in future, they will just stick to very very tired 'on rails' garbage like COD4 that affords them the ability to make nice looking screenshots (in a VERY static world - nothing moves in COD4 and the lighting and physics are basically missing) yet they get lapped up by the 'masses of gaming sheep with no imagination' because you just point and shoot your way through the ride, no need to think for yourselves.

Bioshock didn't even come close to what crysis is actually delievering, I would love to see Crytek do justice to the whole 'cool underwater city theme' because 2k sure as shit didn't. So don't anyone think Bioshock was the ultimate FPS just because it had a somewhat crazy story and a nice theme. It was dull and almost as linear as COD but with none of eve COD's gameplay... it was like the art deco version of 'whack a mole'.

Crysis and Cryengine2 are monumental breakthroughs in gaming, they've made Nvidia and ATI release hardware sooner rather than later, they will make other developers think twice about skimping on immersive features and above all if you have the system already the $50 admission price is worth it for the editor alone, this is the single most advanced piece of realtime graphics/engine software available to the general public.

The problem is the general public don't understand immersion, interaction and boundary pushing.. they seemingly just want a cool story or an iconic hero to talk shit about.

Gamers who understand and love Crysis are the kinds of people who will be willing the industry to get to the promised land of interactive nirvana that they've waited all their lives for, gamers who hate it or assume it's all graphics and no gameplay can go queue up for the next Need For Speed or Halo and say the fuck away from real games because we don't need your opinions holding the rest of us back forever more...
