See the 10 most expensive video games
You probably thought that the $200 you paid for Steel Batallion or $(insert any amount here) for Bomberman: Act Zero was way too pricey, and you're right. But it could have been worse. To see just how bad things can get, you're going to have to read gameSniped's list of the world's most expensive video games.Even if you're familiar with old standbys like the 1990 Nintendo World Championships gold edition, there are bound to be a few on here that you haven't seen. We're especially partial to the version of Clean Sweep licensed by Mr. Boston, maker of some of the some of the finest low-quality liquors.

That list doesn't mention Earthbound 0 (or English Mother 1), of which, there are only like 5 copies I think.

From the article:
"I considered not putting it on this list though. Everyone has heard of Atari or NES, even if you’re not a gamer. The Neo Geo however, is much more of a niche system."
So he thinks more people have heard of the Vectrex or Vic 20 than the Neo geo...methinks this person is a little mistaken.

Vectrex, maybe not. But the Vic-20 was quite popular in it's time - it sold far better than the Neo Geo (2.5 mil, compared to 1 mil). Most under the age of 25 might not recognize the name, but unlike the Neo Geo, there were *lots* of these in homes in it's heyday (indeed, Linus Torvalis' first computer was a Vic-20)

I can't get the article to load. Anyone else able to see it?

Prepare to be fucked by the long dick of the interweb!!

I got it to work after about 20 refresh attempts. Then it loaded with no images, so I had to try 3 more times.
HineyWipe @ Nov 14th 2007 3:07PM
I could just sit by the fire, and play Adventure Colossal Cave on my trusty old TRS-80...

Page won't load. But in regards to the post at hand
'or $(insert any amount here) for Bomberman: Act Zero'
Ironically, I got it for free. I entered one of those OXM contest where you guess the game image on the spine of the magazine, mostly in jest, because well...it was Bomberman: Act Zero. I'm assuming nobody else bothered with it...and lo and behold it came in the mail for me. BTW: it's one of the worst games I've played.
zlionsfan @ Nov 14th 2007 3:32PM
That's weird. I wonder if they pulled the article. (There was a discussion on there about the actual source of the post; apparently it appeared first on someone else's site.)
I remember the Nintendo Campus Challenge. I didn't realize how limited it was (or maybe it wasn't that limited, but no one really remembers its scope) - I just figured that it was at every major university.
Grant @ Nov 14th 2007 3:57PM
i doubt it's pulled, they just got bandwidth fucked.

ZOMG Torrent PLS!!

The article is pretty interesting. I remember playing in the Blockbuster tournament, except I sucked at every game other than NBA Jam and Sonic 3. I got 10th place in the state for Sonic 3, and I didn't even own the game to practice it!
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Nov 14th 2007 4:39PM
You're thinking of the wrong contest. The Judge Dredd/NBA Jam cart is from the contest in '95. You played NBA Jam for I think a 3 minutes quarter and were given X * 10000 points for how well you did in the game. (I remember shutting out the CPU, catching fire after three shots, and following the hot spots around with my player to get something insane.)
Then you played Judge Dredd and your scores were added together. I won the Regional Championship at two stores in SoCal and had 4 free game rentals for a month. (Really useful once I got to college.)
WiNG @ Nov 14th 2007 5:26PM
I never played Judge Dredd.
The games I played IIRC are:
NBA Jam
Sonic 3
Virtua Racer (GEN port)
and I feel like the Ninja Turtles fighting game
not too sure on the last one
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Nov 14th 2007 6:27PM
Yeah, that's why I think you're referring to a different contest than the one that the cart in the article's from. You may have competed in the contest that was the year after the year the cart's from. I didn't bother trying to defend my title. :)
gonk @ Nov 14th 2007 4:55PM
yeah i remember seeing that gold cart before, crazy that it sells for $20,000 now
Chase Schrader @ Nov 15th 2007 10:45PM
Any chance of any of these coming to VC?
Dio @ Nov 15th 2007 12:20AM
Holy crap that article has so many typos.
The only "rare" games I want to get are debugging carts.
