Another Nintendo DS redesign 'already done' says analyst
As we all know, in the video game industry, one day you're in -- and the next you're out. Now Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson reports that their contacts say the Nintendo DS is out. He says their contacts say there is a new DS redesign that is "already done"; it's thinner, has no GBA port, has "on-board" storage, and larger screens. He also says that they don't expect the new design to be revealed until sales start falling off on the handheld that is dominating the globe.
We'd ask Nintendo directly about this, but last time they denied the DS Lite and then announced it soon after. There could very well be a new DS on the way, but what will it look like?

Think I read this yesterday on Kotaku, but I could be mistaken.
Yep, this time, I won't be getting another DS unless it's something super duper spectacular...

Great that means we wont see the redesign until GBA Next or DS 2.

Probably 09...cause the thing is still selling like hot cakes. PSP seems to be coming on strong in Japan...perhaps they'll release it their first to combat PSP sales.
Whatever the hell their calling it now, ok?

Then I gave my wife the pink DS in her birthday, and two weeks ago I bought the bundle Brain Age 2/Crimson DS in Toys r US with some gift cards that I have.
And now, I have four DS Lites, and now I feel obligated to buy the two coming version, the golden Zelda and the Pink Dogs.
Damn collector mania... damn...

Last handheld I had was a Game Gear and that didn't turn out so well...
Also, there are literally piles of good and/or interesting games for DS. There are also mainly Japanese very casual very light entertaining games demanding no brain power you can play any time - including after office hours.
As well as solutions like M3 and R4 are also play important role. Before I played probably one hour per day - during commuting. I can't play the same game for too long or otherwise it becomes way too boring. But with R4 I have my whole library of games conveniently stored on microSD - and they are all with me all the time. Now I play all the time during commuting what is about 3 hours per day.
DS Lite is definitely worth its 140€. Many games at 30-40€ are overpriced, but M3 can help you to find your niche so you will not waste money on trash you can't play. PSP can only envy the state of DS affairs.

What am I going to do with all my GBA titles!!!
Damn, damn them all to hell!!!
hahahaha....no BC, sniff, sniff...
Funny you mention that, I was just thinking the other day that I've had the same GBA cart in my DS for the last year, and can't think of once that I actually played it. Not that it doesn't serve a purpose, that is - it makes a great dust-cover. :)
I'm that way with most BC though. The thought of old games on new-gen hardware makes me think.... meh.
Castlevania Legends Calls.
It's both good and bad at the same time.
Truly, though, to make the thing any thinner, it's a physical requirement that they lose the GBA slot.
Anyway, back on topic, of course Nintendo will come out with a new handheld system. Remember, they make a profit on hardware sales. Considering how well the DS Lite did compared to the Phat, it seems pretty logical to make another version. And obviously it could be ready for five years, but Nintendo isn't going to mention it until the DS Lite sales start dropping.

Sold 2 on eBay for $40 profit.
The third is mine, and it is friggin awesome.
Really, the GBM is a gem, it is so sad it failed miserably. It has an awesome look, great screen, and is smaller than my cell phone.
Redesigns ftw.

Here is a tip to every person reading this. If you see a Game Boy Micro in a store new and sealed, buy it and sell it on eBay, easiest $30-50 you will ever make.
