Mario & Sonic sprints to DS on Jan. 22

If you ~~intentionally ignored~~ overlooked last week's Wii release of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Sega hopes to entice you with the DS version instead. The handheld mascot showdown has been assigned a release date of January 22nd, placing it in the sea of calm following this holiday's storm of intergalactic mega-epics. By next year, you might actually care whether or not a portly plumber can best a hedgehog in a test of physical endurance.

The press release notes that the DS version of Mario & Sonic boasts single- and multi-card multiplayer, as well as exclusive Olympic events not seen in the console variant. These include platform diving, cycling and "Dream Shooting (Skeet)," no doubt an event tasking players with murdering the star of TV's "Jericho" before time runs out.

They taught us all about this in health class. It's normal for young boys when they enter puberty. This is usually when guys start doing their own laundry.

I don't understand the 'diving' joke.

You obviously haven't played enough Sonic.

Actually, I played a LOT of Sonic when I was younger, and I still don't get the joke.

sonic games where good when they first came out... but they have gone hill. hence, the "dive" joke.

It could also refer to Sonic inability to touch water.

I don't know which Sonic you've been playing, Thorned, but Sonic could definitely go in the water in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis).

Some water, at least. See: Chemical Factory, Aquatic Ruins, etcetera.

Everyone knows Sonic can't swim.

Pshhh, mario should be glad they had to put 'restrictor plates' on sonic so that he wouldn't have the unfair speed advantage... Am I the only one that sees that it's serious messed up that they all run the same speed?
