Reminder: Bizarre not working on PGR5, working on 'new racing series'
Buried in the Q&A section towards the end of a Bizarre Creations newspost regarding an update to the Cat and Mouse mode in PGR4, the recently acquired third-party developer (Activision nabbed the UK-based devs in September if you'll recall) confirm that they won't be working on Project Gotham Racing 5. Instead, they're hard at work on "a brand new racing series" no doubt full of cars and tracks and all the other thrilling hallmarks of the genre.
We'd seen reports stating the same – that Bizarre's second, more action-oriented dev-team (think The Club) would be working on existing Activision IPs and their accomplished XBLA team (think Boom Boom Rocket) would be continuing with that platform while the PGR team would be working on something new – but confirmation from the developers themselves serves as a nice, short reminder for PGR fans that it's a brave new world for Bizarre.

This has been known for sometime.

is it called Project Metropolis Racing?

Geometry Wars Racing. You heard it here first.

So long as it's not Fur Fighters Karting, bring it on.

they should do what SHOULD have been forza2. Pgr 4 had better and rarer cars and more and better tracks
Sam @ Nov 15th 2007 10:46AM
except that Forza 2 had...3 times as many cars, real racing tracks, damage, the ability to upgrade your ride, and thousands of layer options to make your car truly your own.

Something tells me this 'racing game' they're working on will very likely be the spiritual successor to the PGR series much like PGR was to the Metropolis Street Racer series.
I can't see them straying too far from this winning formula they have.
Or at least I hope they don't.
Now, bring back San Francisco as a venue, and I'll be happy!

Atlantis Pursuit Racing. Confirmed!

It'd be such a shame of the PGR forumla were to die. I love PGR because of it being a bridge between the realism of Gran Turismo and the arcadiness of Ridge Racer.
Unless they make up an entirely new sub-genre I'm not sure what kind of other racer they could do without being overshadowed by a mainstay.
Sam @ Nov 15th 2007 10:47AM
if they could make PGR with...cops, damage and open world driving, a actual story (a la most wanted) with a few more cars, that would be awesome.
Shockgamer @ Nov 15th 2007 11:10AM
Sounds like you want Most Wanted 2 instead of PGR.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Nov 15th 2007 1:38PM
An even better game is Hot Pursuit 2.
