Seems like an ordinary set of system requirements for Crysis at Future Shop until ... wait, is that T-1000? Skynet? And to think, those requirements are more pressing than hyperconductive thinking aluminum or denimite mem-shards. Check out the highlights for today:

12GBs isnt that bad considering Orange Box took 15GBs with everything installed. Then again, the Orange Box was 5 games...
And just out of curiosity, these are MINIMUM system requirements rite? Not the recommended?
Also, what is the Skynet plugin supposed to be? I Googled it and got nothing :S

@SneezyPorcupine: Please tell me you've seen the Terminator series. If not then where the hell have you been all these years? Under a rock?
You should assume that these are the minimum requirements since sites like Wiki say "so and so requirement or faster/higher"

Joystiq, you make WAY too much fuss over these requirements. That right there is a weaksauce $500 computer. I love you Joystiq but that's really nothing to complain about.

COD 4 does not have better gameplay than Crysis. You, tool, have never played Crysis.
And Crysis on medium settings, as a $500 computer could run, would look better than Halo 3. In HD.
There, I said it.

Er, you don't need Vista. It actually runs better in DX 9 right now.

Sarah Conoor is so in the past. It's John's wife's future kids that are the threat.

This is a lot more subtle than how it was a few months ago. A few months ago, it was more blatant and funnier. And you didn't need to know about the Terminator movies to get the joke.

My god Crysis is a beast, installed the demo and it defaulted to lowest settings for everything, and I have a core 2 duo 1.86 with a 4 gig ram, and a geforce 7600 gs 256. By no means a beast of a machine, but not terrible. I turned up the settings just out of curiosity and it pretty much wouldnt move.
I suppose this is where someone comes in and calls me a moron or something along those lines, that I don't know anything about pc's, yada yada. But with all things considered, do any of you think this is at all reasonable just to run these bells and whistles? I love pc gaming, but sheesh, give me a break.

Nope its not reasonable and it irks me when companies do this. Average Joe PC user is going to buy this game when he sees it at Wal-Mart and not enjoy it much playing at 2.3 fps. Much like the original Unreal back in 98.
Ironically enough, Epic has now turned into the good guys, making UT3 run silky smooth even on older hardware (and UE3 looks pretty damn good, even next to Crysis).

Yeah, my friend has a water cooled, dual core, 8800 GTX packing beast and with all the settings up it ran like a slide show!

Your drivers are probably out of date, and so on and so forth. My friend runs it fine on a 7300.

Downloading the latest forceware drivers didnt work either, still lagging at around 11 fps on at 1024 x 768 with no aa and settings on low

Are you running on Vista? There's absolutely no way your card should be doing that poor on low. Maybe the core2 is holding you back-- that's a fairly slow clock speed.

I don't know what the big deal is about these requirements. My desktop coincidentally meets the exact minimum requirements for CPU speed, video card, and memory, and it's almost 4 years old already.

Well, part of the big deal is that those requirements, like for most PC games (and virtually all published by EA) are unrealistic. I was reading some benchmarks of the new 8800GT the other day, and a pretty nice pimped out system with an 8600GTS was running the game at 8fps.

exactly thats the problem, they only meet the minimum requirements, which isnt enough for a game like this where its all about the graphics

You know the guy at the top left that answers any questions you have? Ask him "Are you gay?" You have have to get the casing correct but when you do, the answer is hilarious.

Are you kidding me? Does this game suck so bad in story and gameplay that it gets nothing but 'specs' thrown around?
I don't know a single thing about this game and I'm fairly up to date with most PS3/360/PC titles. The only thing I've _ever_ heard mentioned about Crysis is, "You'll be lucky if your computer runs this."
Seriously, how about some information about the game for once like you guys do/did with Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed and Halo 3. You guys covered those games insanely.

I beat it yesterday, after about 15 hours. Single best singleplayer experience I've ever had by a longshot. It didn't have the artsy, intellectual depth of Bioshock, but it was action-movie styled in way that reminded me of Call of Duty and Halo, with slightly more serious, adult character.
I honestly stopped caring about the graphics almost right away, the gameplay itself is fun as hell. It really is something sent back in time from the next-next generation, in both visuals and gameplay.

And just to add on to what you said: I seriously don't think a single PC gamer is on the staff of this site. There is such a serious bias against anything PC related that I've started reading other blogs, which is disheartening, as I used to love Joystiq.
