Today's most epic music video: Cal marching band's gaming medley
53
Facing off against Washington State, the University of California, Berkeley's Golden Bears needed to show their might, their strength, and their willingness to perform a fatality if given a chance. During their half-time show, Cal's marching band performed a medley of video game songs, complete with gaming-themed drills (i.e. the band forms a giant Triforce and Master Sword while playing music The Legend of Zelda).

I think they actually had the dragon, too, unless my eyes deceive me. Once again, though, it's upside down as well. That was one of the coolest parts.

As a student here, I agree!
Sucks that they snuck in some cool music behind my back, but I wasn't gonna go if I knew anyway!

That was Sarcasm. You know, because it would be a bit goofy trying to stand on your head and watch a movie from the internet?
By the way, funny how Douche is a insult. Its a hygiene product, thats like calling someone soap. Perhaps its because how it rolls off the tongue.
Douche
Doosh
Woosh
Hehe

Ethan is right, Dusche is the German word for shower, and duschen is the word for showering.

Do they still make dooshbags? I'm pretty sure dooshes don't come in bags anymore. And I prefer to spell it doosh, so sue me.

But but but but...Bards can only give a +2 competence bonus to attacks and +4 to defense, and only within 10 yards!

My LVL 20 Tauren was 1st-string QB for the St. Louis Rams... but he got suspended for using Rage Potions, or "Ragin' Up" as the kids are calling it these days...

Not to be pissy or anything but it's actually spelled Berkeley.

Strangely, there are multiple videos on youtube of this from different angles, but they are all from the wrong side of the field. Was nobody on the other side filming? Very odd...

This was truly great. I wish I would have been there to see this for myself.

Maybe I'm just ignorant of the Mario mythos, but what was that second thing that the band made during the Mario medley? First there was the stage with the pipes, then this weird curvy thing in the middle, then the end-of-level castle and flagpole. But seriously, what was that thing in the middle?

Well at one point..it almost looked like they made a big Fire Flower. And also I think they made a big Electro Blooper (the squid enemy). Not sure, but that's my assumption.

Call me when Carolina Crown, Santa Clara Vanguard, or Velvet Knights do this at 200 bpm. This is begging for a drum corps to do it right.

Ugh..."do it right"? Whatever...
Drum corps is awesome, don't get me wrong. I love me some Phantom Regiment, Cavaliers, Cadets (minus the annoying narration), and Blue Devils.
But marching bands are equally awesome in their own right. Don't dismiss just because they're not flying all over the field at 200 bpm.
Oh, and this video is sweet. PONG at the beginning, Tetris, the Triforce and Master sword, and the Mario castle and flag at the end, all very cool. Good job!

Someone better tell the band that their tetris segment got hacked. Their lines did not clear when they were completed.

That was just amazing!
The only thing that could have made that better would be if they had shot off six fireworks at the end.

I was at the Florida-Vandy game recently, and the Florida band did a video game medley, mario/zelda/tetris type stuff, I guess this is the new thing for college marching bands. Gamers are coming up!

I'm pretty sure wild parties and LAN parties both destroy marching band for "best extracurricular activity".
Also this video needs more Samus.

I'm gonna have to write an angry letter to the school demanding they let me know in advance of any cool game-related musical happenings. I was probably drunk in a dumpster less than a mile from the game, completely unawares.
