GODDAMN YOU MICROSOFT! If I had the money right now, I'd buy a 360 in a heartbeat because that deal is so fucking sweet....

... but I don't *catches breath*.

It's really a great offer. That's 3 free games altogether, right? I'm glad to see the return of the bundled game this generation, it's been a while...

I'm not interested in a 360 at the moment, but I hope this encourages Sony to respond in kind. Tossing in Ratchet & Clank, Warhawk, or maybe Uncharted would push me over the fence and get me to buy this year, since there just isn't quite enough motivation yet otherwise.

LOL; so how do you play multi-player without buying an Xbox live premium account? ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like they have to give that away for free too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What exactly are the system requirements for playing halo 3? I am reading the back of the box right now and it says optimized for HD!!!!!!! And Xbox live premium needed in order to play multi-player online!!!!!!!!! Don't go misinforming parents now!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the system requirements for Halo 3 is an Xbox 360. Halo 3 is not compatible with the Wii or PS3.

If you click the "Registration Page" link and not the "Read" link, it lets you register.

Pretty good deal, but I think they would push more if they sold it with the system. But I guess that Forza/Ultimate Alliance bundle (if it's out there), it's not as important.

Read the print guys. You need to have a Xbox with Live, THEN Migrate it over to Xbox 360 Live.

"As a current paid Xbox LIVE member using an original Xbox console (not Xbox 360), ... Buy your Xbox 360 between November 21 and December 21, 2007, move your existing paid Xbox LIVE account to an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription ..."

The page is back up, but did they completely change the offer or is this just bad reporing?

The news story makes it sound like anyone who buys an XBox360 can get Halo 3.

According to the promo page it says you must be an existing paid XBox LIVE member. It says it's an upgrade incentive for original XBox owners that haven't bought a 360 yet.

They changed the offer by adding new stipulations after we posted the article. It did not originally require an original Xbox Live account and if it did, it was poorly worded. Pity, it was a very good offer.

Ok, I take it back, this offer freaking sucks.

I'm sure the 30-odd people who owned an original XBOX but not a 360 (and kept their Live accounts all this time) will be very happy though.

Yes, they completly changed the offer. It used to be if you bought an xbox 360, register, and signup for a Live account, you would get Halo 3 free.

Well, does this mean that the people who entered this before it was changed (like me) don't get Halo 3? Because if not, then that's pretty sucky of Microsoft...

Microsoft you dissapoint me. I had reported this already on the Sims post earlier today. Now look what you did. =( Hope you re-re-do this offer to the original one.

As a person who has an XBox 1 and not a 360...This does nothing to entice me. Halo was a good game, but it wasn't good enough for me to give a crap about Halo 2.

So, let's see, MS tried to force me to buy a whole new system by completely abandoning the XBox 1 owners like myself (PS2 is still getting new titles, not that I'm a big Sony fan, though) then go two years with only a miniscule price drop (not to mention the threat of an endless repair loop), and then try to sweeten the deal by tossing in an overrated game I don't give a crap about anyway. No thanks, I'm not biting.

damn, that's a very harsh change

what about the people who entered before they changed the rules? it doesn't seem fair to change the rules of the game midway through

Yikes, I almost went looking for a Pro bundle last night when this story popped up. I would be really pissed at Joystiq and M$ today had I made an impulse purchase based on this.

Well....this sucks. I HAD an old xbox before I sold it a month ago. I plan on buying a 360 elite between those days too. Also, my old xbox account expired in April... Do ya think that I could somehow use that old account and "revive" it on the 360 and somehow earn credit for the game? I hope so...

HAHA!

So basically it's Halo 3 for $200+ in Live fees. Wow, what a deal! Thank you, Microsoft!

The good news is, if you read the fine print it says, the XBL Gold account now comes with a KKK membership.

It's hard to effectively call someone else a loser when you spell "Why" as "Y".

And at least come up with something more creative than the old "parent's basement" cliche. Sheesh.

This is will boast sales but only marginally. Think about it, a large portion of current 360 owners bought the system in anticipation for Halo 3 and had pre-ordered the Legendary Edition months in advance. This will basically get everyone who has been dragging their feet this console generation to go out and upgrade from the original xbox and Halo 2. Now only if they can find a way to get people to upgrade from Windows XP ~_^

With the new restrictions, it seems like they won't be "giving away" many copies. I would think most original Xbox Halo players already bought a 360 and Halo 3. The 3.3M in sales seems to indicate it.

Halo 3 free is sweet for those without 360's yet. Not sure who that would be .. but I digress. Anyone but me that cant stand mailed offers and mail in rebates? I'm always paranoid that I wont get said item because I misplace a receipt or forget to cut out a UPC. Give it to me straight marketing people. Give it to me straight! It's like trading with someone you dont trust... exchange AT THE SAME TIME!
