Members of the (unfortunately) Japanese-only Club Nintendo get all the good swag - remember the working TV remote modeled after the Nintendo Wii remote? The big gift this year, for members with over 400 club points (earned via buying Nintendo products over the past year) can receive a working Super Famicon attachment for the Wii that, according to an IGN translation, will be delivered by April 2008.
Other items of interest include a Mario Galaxy soundtrack (two CDs, 81 tracks) and a set of two 2008 tabletop calendars. As usual, we wish Nintendo would offer such goodies outside of Japan. Eligible Club Nintendo participants have until December 2 to select one of the above gifts, but do you really need that long to choose?

One of the greatest controllers of all time.
The Ascii version was great as well. And the six button Sega Genesis/Saturn pad...

You know, I'd settle for an adapter that let me use my old SNES controllers work on my Wii. I've already got 5 SNES controllers (hello, multitap).

Nintendo would print even more money if they release all the original controllers with "classic controller" adaptation ...
SPECIALY the snes, n64 and mega drive (specialy the saturn like one)... and then you imagine what would be to play games like guilty gear acent core or smash bros brawl on these controlers xD
hehe the mega drive controler would automaticaly make you select sonic as your char hehehe

yeah, the fact that the controller reads SUPER FAMICOM in the picture sort of underscores the "hey look, i have a novice's understanding of the japanese syllabary" douchebaggery that much more.

No the N64 controller was cool, but you really think it's better than 360, Wii, or Gamecube controllers, for instance? Yeah, okay.
-C buttons are tiny and give little tactile feedback
-Analog stick made that weird "dust" and got sticky
-DPad was too stiff
-Smaller grips not good for big hands
-Awkward expansion slot placement made controller topheavy with any accessory in use
So yeah it was good but not the pinnacle of gaming.

The N64 controller was brilliant. Right hand for buttons, and then your left hand has the choice of a D-pad and L button (SNES style) for 2-D games or an analog stick and a trigger for 3-D games. They were ready, no matter which way gaming wanted to go. It was a brilliant design philosophy. But then every single game went 3-D, making the D-pad side of the controller useless.
However, Nintendo got screwed anyway, as the industry wanted to make FMVs instead of games after every 32-bit CD-based console failed at becoming the multimedia powerhouses they all claimed to be. Scaring off some of their best developers didn't help either.
But it was not the pinnacle of gaming. That was the SNES controller, which got stolen by the PS1 and PS2 and has since morphed back into the Wii's Classic Controller. Industry standard for 15 years FTW folks.

"-C buttons are tiny and give little tactile feedback"
Yeah they're small, duh, but they work perfectly. And little tactile feedback? Yours must be broken.
"-Analog stick made that weird "dust" and got sticky"
True, but so what? Get a replacement stick when that happens (I hear newer ones don't even wear out anymore), and you once again have the best controller ever.
"-DPad was too stiff"
Bullshit, and even if it was, it beats the PS1/2/3's and -certainly- the 360's worthless shitty excuse for a dpad hands down.
"-Smaller grips not good for big hands"
What? Those things were among the biggest grips on any controller ever. You must have hands like a circus freak.
"-Awkward expansion slot placement made controller topheavy with any accessory in use"
I was a kid when I played with that fairly heavy rumble thing, and I never even thought about it. Again, there must be something wrong with you.

I'll pick up the CDs from the world's most popular music store (The Pirate Bay), but the controller would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Bah - who needs the Pirate Bay when you've got Galabadia Hotel...Google it now and thank me later ;)
Anyway, I'd pay a reasonable price for an NES, SNES & N64 Wiiabled controller, without a 3rd party dongle.
Why the #@$% doesn't Nintendo bring CN to North America? I've heard the argument that they're niche products that would be impossible to produce in huge numbers for the NA market, but isn't that the point with limited edition collectibles?

That controller brings back memories. I would also love to get that super mario galaxy soundtrack. I've heard it's pretty good. I haven't brought Galaxy yet, I'm still waiting for Christmas. The Japanese players always seem to get the better deals.

That is awesome, but I'd much prefer an N64 controller. I can barely manage in a lot of N64 games using the classic controller. The Wavebird is a bit better, but only marginally.
Especially if it was able to recognize the memory and rumble packs. That would kick tons of ass!

Hey cool! I haven't bought an SNES game on VC yet because I don't want to buy a classic controller. This would be awesome.

The classic controller is great, don't just pass it by. It feels a lot better than the SNES controller, nostalgia aside.

I'm really getting sick of these Club Nintendo deals. They already got that 2 exclusive DS games, the dual-screened Game & Watch gallery, and Tingle's Balloon Fight.
I actually bought Tingle's Balloon Fight in a store in Japan. My love of Balloon Fight outweighs my hate for Tingle. The game's great. I hate Club Nintendo. I want in so bad.

I don't particularly car that it's not coming out in the US because the Classic controller is essentially a Super Nintendo Controller with analog sticks and more buttons.
What I would like to see is an N64 controller so that I can have some C-buttons for my N64 games rather than the clumsy and out of place analog stick. Plus six face buttons would be better for the Sega Genesis games that used the 6-button controller. But I know it will never happen. *sigh*

OMG OMG OMG!!!
Since August - that's when I reached 400 points in the Club Nintendo - I wondered what will be this year's present. And it's even better than expected! I can't wait for April. Man, is that a cool controller.
By the way, OMG! (I usually don't use that word, but I'm so happy right now. :) )

I can't wait for that soundtrack to hit the torrent stream. I've been waiting for a release of some sort, and a Japan-only release is a lot better than nothing.
Bring it on.
