Wii Warm Up: The other stuff

I check the forecast channel quite a bit. Kind of handy. And the internet channel is good for Youtube.

I never touch photo channel or news channel though.

Mii channel - After creating an avatar the first day, I haven't returned to this channel until the Check Mii Out channel arrived. (However, I like the novelty of that new channel... for the moment.)

Photo channel - Actually gets used fairly often. My wife loves viewing photos on the TV, and the "Fun" features (drawing and puzzles) are also entertaining.

Weather channel - Sometimes use it to check forcasts for the week... but wish there was a way to force more frequent updates.


Everybody Votes channel - Enjoyed it for a while, but simply don't care anymore. Unless a couple of Miis can compare results on the same system (or you could view responses made by your friends) voting wears thin quickly.

News channel - Still used frequently. My favorite of the freebie channels.

Internet channel - Useful at times, but somewhat limited until I get a wireless keyboard. Still good for flash games, HomeStar Runner, YouTube, and looking up quick facts without having to leave the couch.

I occasionally glance at the forecast channel, but I actually use the news channel a lot more. I got my wii after June, so no internet channel for me (I really can't justify paying $5 for a browser). I think I tried out the photo channel when I first got the wii, but I haven't used it since.

I use the photo channel quite often. My camera uses SD cards, and the Wii is a great way to show photos off to the grandparents and watch movies of the rug-rat doing cute things.

Weather? No. I look out the window or go to a website that provides radar.
Internet? No. I have a laptop.
News? No. See laptop.

I use the weather channel and news channel. Rather than fire up the laptop several times a day, its faster to just turn on the wii. Easier on the laptop's hard drive too!

Just about every morning, when I'm still half asleep, I check the news and weather. Also, whenever I'm showing photos, it's way easier to stick the card in the wii and show off a slideshow than using a laptop.

When I first got my Wii I would check the news and weather. However, now I don't touch either one of them.
I have never opened the photo channel.
I do use the Internet channel a lot more once I figured out I could hook up my wireless keyboard to the Wii.

One time I accidently clicked on the photo channel, looked at it, realized I had a computer for photo viewing (at a much higher resolution than my TV) and quickly returned to the main menu. As far as the others, I used to use the news channel but it seems to be getting slower so i stopped, I hardly ever use the internet channel but I do enjoy the voting and mii channels.

I rarely use the Weather channel since every time you check it that the forecast is several hours old.

I do use the news channel quite often and have gotten up to the minute news breaks.

The everybody votes channel doesn't get used much since most of the topics doesn't really help the Wii out.

Check Mii Out is a joke of a channel but I did post all of my Miis and did enter the two contests. Maybe they will give Wii points if you win.

I have the internet channel since I got it before they started charging for it but I never use it since most of the plugins are out of date like the flash player. The only use it gets is when using Finetunes to listen to music on my surround sound.

I don't use the photo channel but it does work great when I have family over to show off pictures but that is it.

I am still waiting for the Prime 3 preview channel to become a real video preview channel maybe even with some movie trailers.

I am now only using the Mii channel to make Mii's for the contests on the check Mii out channel.

I do have a few ideas of other channels though. Like an MP3 or music channel that will play CD's or music from my SD Card. A trailer channel that allows us to view game and movie trailers. A channel that will stream some TV programming (I am hoping the TV schedule channel will have this). Of course the DVD and demo channels.

I use the Internet Channel in combination with a couple of flash-game sites (Wiicade, for instance), but rarely at that. I also tune in to the Forecast channel every once in a while, but mostly to play around with the Globe. I loves me some Everybody Votes channel, though.

I would love to hook up with a wireless keyboard, but didn't think it would work!

Photo Channel: AHAHAHAHAHAAHAAaaAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAA yeah okay.

News Channel: Rarely, but when I do use it, I use it for a long sitting. The geographical slideshow feature is awesome.

Weather Channel: Probably use it 2-3 times a month, but I have a toolbar on my browser w/forecasts so I usually already know what's coming up

Internet channel: Not really unless my gf and I are watching youtube on the big screen.

Mii channel: almost never until recently thanks to Check Mii Out

Check Mii Out: probably 2-3 times a week, it's fun!

I use my Internet Channel; probably more than games, because I only have 2 (until christmas!). I just got the Check Mii Out channel yesterday, I'll occasionally use EVC and rarely News and weather

I use the internet channel with Winamp Remote to stream music and videos over my television for when we have people over. Much cheaper than apple tv.

Never used the Photo Channel due to lack of an SD card and camera ^^
I use the News channel frequently when I can't sleep so I browse the international news from my bed (really great because you don't have to point at the screen and bluetooth works through the sheets, yeah it's cold here y'know). I visit Everybody votes every other day to take part in the latest surveys. The weather channel is not really usefull except for checking out how cold it is again in "Ulan Bator". I'm really curious what the new channels for next year will be.

I no only use:
Disc Channel
Sometimes the Mii channel
and thats it apart from the Virtual Console games.

i like hitting up the news channel every now and then. weather and photo, not so much. my first go with check mii out was disappointing, but the second time was kinda fun, and i entered the mario contest.

Never use the forecast channel as it does not have the weather for %99 of Canada (Come on Nintendo ever hear of Environment Canada??).

Never use the News channel as it’s almost never updated and contains little news.

Never use the photo channel as it is way to limited in format support.

Never use any Mii channel as it seems kind of pointless to me.

Only thing I use is the internet channel, and I would use it a lot more if they would just add proper flash and java support.

I have never understood the fascination with Weather channels, be they Wii or otherwise.
I have a window.. If I see clouds, I take a brolly. That's about as good as it gets.

So, no Weather channel usage for me.
I do find myself using the News channel quite a lot. Not for regular news updates, more those Tech/Entertainment things that are occasionally interesting.
The Internet channel gets used for reading the weekly B3ta newsletter, so everyone can enjoy the sillyness.

And, Photo Channel's Doodle mode is always good for a laugh.

Weather - rarely, but my kid enjoys zooming out and around to see what's going on elsewhere.

News - even less often - I have a PC and subscribe to RSS feeds

Internet - more regularly, especially to watch videos through the TV rather than on the PC. Wish we could get a DivX codec, though. Really saddened by Veoh's limits on the show lengths for having the whole episode available for streaming.

Photos - one time just to see what would happen and also see if I could play random MP3's through it. No dice, last time I tried it.

Voting - ugh. Worse than useless.

Check Mii Out - I just don't even see the point in adding this to my console. I want to play games or possibly do some minor surfing, not look at Mii's.

Metroid channel - I really don't want to add a channel specifically designed to sell me something and especially not one so narrowly focused, however cool Metroid may be. I can see previews online.


I guess I'm really waiting for Wii Ware, though having a HD would be awesome to retain downloads or even allow larger downloads. (I know, I know.)

We use the weather channel, the news, and the internet. The internet is nice for watching youtube with friends. Also installed orb on pc so we can now browse photos, music, and videos that are on our pc. Works fairly well but you wiil need a good wireless newtork for videos.

I've used the photo channel at parties half a dozen times to do one of those Ken Burns style slideshows with an MP3 looping in the background. Xmas photos plus "Skating" by Vince Guaraldi from that Snoopy thing were a total hit.

I really like the Internet channel for Youtube, but it's been a couple of months since I've done it because I've been moving around a lot and staying at friends' houses and hotels, and my Wii seems really touchy about switching the wifi settings (and doesn't work in hotels at all, naturally.)

The news and weather channels are almost so useless as to be insulting. I don't know if Nintendo picked the wrong partners or has just implemented them poorly, but news and weather feeds, especially regarding things like "current" temperature, really need to be updated more than once or twice a day.

Weather & News both get used rarely. Though the weather more of the two

Me and my girlfriend end up using the everybody votes channel once or twice a week, I enjoy trying to predict what other people are thinking and the international votes are interesting to see how different countries vote as a whole.

The internet channel gets used for youtube and such if I want to relax on my sofa instead of at my desk (laptops are for the weak!)

Havn't really explored this new Check Mii Out channel, looks interesting though.
