New Avatar game awards 1K gamerpoints in 2 minutes
60
Gamerpoint addiction is a serious problem, people. Did you know that 1.2 million Americans buy awful games every day, just to harvest the sweet gamerpoint nectar that lies within? That's close to 60 million dollars a day that could be donated to charity, or, at the very least, spent on good games. We've got good news and bad news for these people. The bad news? You're going to be buying another bad game soon. The good news? You'll only need to play it for two minutes.
Apparently, the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Burning Earth (Avatar: The Legend of Aang - The Burning Earth for our European readers) thought it would be much, much harder to rack up a 50 hit combo than it actually was. We wonder when someone will start up a Gamerpoint Regulation Council that will make the distribution of points between games like Avatar and games like Guitar Hero III a tad more uniform.
[Thanks, jstroh]

I notice the effects of the strike in the gaming world the second I started playing assassins’ creed.

Retarded! I usually only compare how many achievements my friends have in difficult games anyway. Not garbage like this. Get all the achievements points in games like COD4, Gears, Halo3, RainbowSixVegas or Assassins Creed and that is something to take pride in I guess. Thats why I dont rent or play these crappy games. Guess Im not an achievement whore afterall lolz. Just dont say anything about my King Kong achievements...oops!

This is like, the 7th Avatar game they've pumped out in 2 years. Just because the series is good doesn't mean the games will be.

Agreed. Do not ruin a good series by pumping out crap games...

How is this related? One game (made for kids) has easy achievements doesn't show the "patheticness" of Xbox owners.
Judging by your comments, you have the calling card of a bitter PS3 owner who can't see that the PS3 does have games, and needs to stop calling BOOOOOOOOOTTTZZZZ and flaming Xbox owners and go play them.

It seems like one of three things:
1) The developers don't like doing achievements, so they just put in five really easy ones.
2) The developers forgot about adding achievements until the very end and had to add some quick to meet the deadline.
3) They were worried that they made a crappy game (I don't know as I haven't played it) so they added the easiest achievements possible to help sell the game.

OK, so I'm going to speak for all the non 360 owners and ask;
What do you use these points for?

I'll speak for the 360 owners and answer;
Abso-fucking-lutely nothing. I only have 3300 points, and don't understand why people would rent games they don't like, just to get points that do nothing. I am proud of getting ~750 points in Guitar Hero II though...

Really, nothing!?
All that hype over nothing?
At least when you buy a Nintendo game, you get star points which you can use to download wallpapers and musics etc. Not that anyone with an I.Q. over 4 ever would, but at least you can.
Saying that, Nintendo is supposed to allow you to buy Wii points with star points sometime in the future. So at least buying a new game will subsidise buying an old game.
Microsoft should follow suit and all points to get you a discount on marketplace stuff.

what the point of collecting all the container hearts in a zelda game? There is no point. But with achievments, its like a little extra permenant reward you get. Some achievments are also difficult to obtain and you can show skill be having certain ones.
Also, at one pointMS did offer a free game and MS points if you had a certain gamerscore. Which is way better then stupid nintendo wallpaper. People who knock achievmenets are those who havnt experienced them. Im not some GS whore whos gonna rent this crappy game for 1000 points. But I do try to get 1000/1000 for every game I play. Its come to a point that I see gaming as pointless unless I have some sort of achievments to score. Its almost like thats what the game is about, obtaining them. Also if you go for them all in most games, it lets you experience the game to its fullest. (most games have 100% the game achievments). These are tuly the most innovative thing this generation. WAY more then nintendos waggle control.
I hope next gen sees nintendo return to a standard controller.

That was some real smooth trolling there, Mike. Points are more innovative than 3D motion sensing eh?

NDF UPDATE PLEASE!!!
I really should say that I've been absent for a while due to my new-born son.
As much as I would love to lead the ranks against the sony-ites, them nappies aint gona change themselves. Just think of it as raising a future NDF leader.
Last thing. Someone, Sheppy I think (myt be wrong), seems to be under the impression that I feel I have weight at Joystiq. I know I don't. But I have the right to express my opinions. Re: The whole F. Rocker banning. Was I going to find out what happened and support fernando? Yes. Was I going to act like I owned the place and demand things? No.
So please don't think I walk around like I own the place, I'm a visitor just like everyone else.

A thousand pardons, Kye. Your tone, at writing the whole "good to see you back, I was about to write an angry letter" after being told that it was Ludwig, after 7 straight days of warnings to Fernando (actually, many more warnings than most people get) somehow indicated that you felt you had more sway on this board than Ludwig. Especially given this quote.
"I was JUST going to write a letter of complaint to Joystiq for banning you. And it was going to be one STERN-ASS letter! (Not that you aren't still banned). But at least you're here."
and this one...
"Sheppy
NDF Members stick together.
If anyones gona tell him off it'll be me.
Also, my name isn't Suzie.
Thank you for your time, Rapunzel.
Kye."
Given those two quotes, is it any wonder I run around with that misconception? After all, if I run around declaring I'm the emperor of France and someone tells me I most certainly am not, do I then have the right to say "well, it's not actually as if I REAALLY said I was the emperor of France."
But oh well. As for the whole Sony-ites thing, dude, you have a kid now. Don't you think it's about time to grow up? If anything, outside of a few exceptions (Noshino and Shags), majority of the Sony user community on this site would love to read a Sony news article without the Sony bashers flooding it like a spawning glitch in Advent Rising. It's really getting old, man.

Sheppy,
I browsed through your reply (its late) so pardon anything that I've missed. Let's just agree to disagree on whatever it was we misunderstood or disagreed on, OK?
For the umpteenth time I do not really care about what systems people choose to own/play. The whole NDF thing is jokes to me, that's all. I do own and play Sony, Sega and MS consoles. And it would be a sad day should Sony ever leave the console race.
And as for me growing up now that I have a kid, I can assure you you would have to look long and hard to find a more dedicated, loving father than me. Please do not think that my sense of humor (or lack of) relates to my parenting skills.
If you really want to read news articles sans-bashing then you can always go to the BBC website or similar. But don't be surprised if it happens on Joystiq.
Thanx,
Me.

Haha. The "quality" of the game is almost worse than doing that just for achievements. Actually, it could go either way. Oh well.

well, most games don't cost 60 bucks after the first couple of months. for example Prey is pretty easy for gamerpoints and i bought it for 11 euro (new)...
