Get out of Zebes! Prime Samus Aran cosplay

It's not often you'll find us complimenting the quality of an individual's cosplay, so when we do it's sort of a big deal. Not "I just won the lottery" big, but more "Sweet, the vending machine gave me two sodas for the price of one" big. Anyway, you get the picture.
Jenni, playing the part of Metroid's Samus Aran, captures the essence of the character thanks to a fairly accurate costume, and fantastic setting. The complete set features 15 different photos, and outside of the shots where she dons the helmet, they're really worthy of praise. Keep up the good work, Jenni!
[Thanks, Jesse.]

This is the third site I've seen her on today. She's making the rounds pretty quick.
Also super hot.
upz @ Nov 19th 2007 10:50AM
I wish we wouldn't encourage this kind of thing.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 19th 2007 11:01AM
I'm with you.
Hirsbrunner @ Nov 19th 2007 11:17AM
Agreed.
Larz @ Nov 19th 2007 1:51PM
Wha? Not encourage people to do activities besides just playing games, and dress up like good wholesome heroes?
I approve. Simply awesome costume, great work.
Ghen @ Nov 19th 2007 1:33PM
Hot chicks + gaming related = awesome. Quit your yapping.
Now we need a Metroid live action movie.
Brello @ Nov 19th 2007 5:22PM
@upz
Agreed.
Silent Xenocide @ Nov 19th 2007 10:51AM
She seems to be having womanly problems.
Kassu @ Nov 19th 2007 10:53AM
Maybe Pedobear could investigate that matter?
WiNG @ Nov 19th 2007 10:53AM
I am currently playing through Metroid Prime 2, and let me just say...
no morphball = fail
That is all.
Kevlar @ Nov 19th 2007 12:08PM
Um... What?

ThornedVenom @ Nov 19th 2007 10:54AM
ANY chick cosplaying as Samus Aran is warranting geekgasmic drool all over their costume.
Assuming she made the costume herself, she did a kickass job for the shoulder balls. It's cool that she went for the more realistic rusty look instead of a full bright cartoony and plasticky orange.
Batzarro @ Nov 19th 2007 11:03AM
Looks good. Needs more Batzarro!
Cesaria @ Nov 19th 2007 11:03AM
My fantasy has come true.
Jerk Face @ Nov 19th 2007 11:04AM
I... I love her.
Cesaria @ Nov 19th 2007 11:06AM
Dibs! She also dresses as Saya from Blood!
ThornedVenom @ Nov 19th 2007 11:10AM

Oh...umm..yes. Very attractive, great work on the Samus suit. I was not being uber nerd fanboi!
monkeymonkeymonkey @ Nov 19th 2007 11:09AM
now the hardcore metroid fans wont have to fap at a cartoon version of Samus!
ThornedVenom @ Nov 19th 2007 11:11AM
One can still dream for his monkey version of Samus. XD
Grant @ Nov 19th 2007 11:21AM
i'm usually the first person to laugh at people doing cosplay, but this is well done.
I'm impressed.
Lunitsond @ Nov 19th 2007 11:28AM
Dude, all I can say is check out her pictures of Leelu from the Fifth Element.....I'd hit that over and over again.

Lanturn of Ash @ Nov 19th 2007 12:17PM

cybereality @ Nov 19th 2007 12:00PM
Holy crap, she has a Kusanagi outfit. That girl rocks!
WiNG @ Nov 19th 2007 12:02PM
For a second I thought it said Major Katsuragi.
Then I was disappointed.
Savok @ Nov 19th 2007 12:09PM
The shoulders aren't stupidly big enough to make the helmet work. They're slung a little low too.
Beyond that, it's one of the best costumes you'll see.
fuzzy @ Nov 19th 2007 12:20PM
The helmet is pretty hokey, but hubba hubba
Andune @ Nov 19th 2007 12:34PM
While i can't say that i entirely love the helmet i have to say that the rest of the suit looks great, she have nice eyes too... http://www.pixelninja.se/metroid11.jpg
And she lives in Sweden, how awesome isn't that.
brandon_r87 @ Nov 19th 2007 12:46PM
She even cosplays Battle Royale!
upirons @ Nov 19th 2007 1:07PM
Let's see her turn into the morph ball. Impressive though.
WiNG @ Nov 19th 2007 1:10PM
Meh, Samus isn't asian.
holto @ Nov 19th 2007 1:26PM
oh but she should be...
Masj @ Nov 20th 2007 3:59AM
I don't think she's asian cause she is from Stockholm/Sweden and she looks quite Northen Europe but I have been wrong before.
WiNGDiNGaLiNG @ Nov 24th 2007 4:27PM
@WiNG: Shut up. The costume's great! You're just a troll trying to diminish this girl's accomplishment.
Deuxhero @ Nov 19th 2007 1:41PM
at least it is a women doing it *shudders at the thought of man faye*
dvnt @ Nov 19th 2007 1:50PM

Mojo @ Nov 19th 2007 1:51PM

She could screw attack me any day.
That was inappropriate. I apologize.
Spectre (MPH) @ Nov 19th 2007 6:16PM
@ Ghen: Yes. Yes we do need one.
Mr Khan @ Nov 19th 2007 6:29PM
The license for a Metroid live action movie was bought up around the time Metroid Prime came out, and the idea has been bounced around ever since, although nothing ever really materialized
A lot like the whole DBZ live action movie idea, which was concieved in 2001, never brought to fruition, but has been confirmed to not be a dead project
Both are in pre-development hell, presumably
shaoron @ Nov 19th 2007 10:46PM
...
i can't stop drooling!
this is so awesome!
EPIC WIN OVER NINE THOUSAND!
The ZeroCorpse @ Nov 20th 2007 1:55AM
Gag me. Cosplayers are silly gits. If you want to dress up in costumes, then become an actor. This stuff, however, just gives gamers and geeks a bad name and makes us all look like obsessive freaks.
And the lot of you, drooling at the first sign of a girl dressed up as a video game or anime character-- You're not helping.
If this were a fat 40-year-old guy in a Ryu costume, you'd all be justifiably embarrassed. You're not reacting to the costume; You're just impressed that someone with tits is emulating a character from your largely female-less hobby.
I miss the days when video games didn't inspire people to play dress-up and act like dorks. I blame this sort of thing on the insanity of anime.
We all whine about how guys like Jack Thompson ruin the public perception of gamers and how the mainstream doesn't take gamers seriously, and then gamers turn around and do things like cosplay, the Spike Video Game Awards, and standing in line for two days to get Halo 3 or a Nintendo Wii.
Gaming is seen a dorky by the mainstream because they judge us by the actions of the most extreme, unusual members of our hobby. You don't see board game fans doing cosplay as Uncle Moneybags from Monopoly, and you don't see card players embarrassing themselves on the evening news while standing outside in the snow waiting to buy the newest deck of cards or casino opening.
What is it about geeks needing to dress up in character costumes? Whether it's comics, anime, D&D, SciFi movies, or video games, we're seen as brain-damaged idiots because some people don't let the game end when they turn off the console-- They have to dress up as video game characters and dance around like retards. Nobody did this in the 80s. There was no "Whee!!! I'm Pac-Man!"
Having said all that, I do hope this girl goes into theater craft, because the costume is very well-made (if, indeed, she made it). It's just lame and a waste to do it as a component of a gaming hobby instead of doing something productive and useful.
Dress-up is something you should stop playing when you get into middle school, kiddies.
But by all means, let your freak flag fly. Just know that you never see fans of John Grisham books or chess tournaments dressing up in costumes and taking photos. We're seen as losers because THIS is the image people get in their head when they think of "gamers".
She doesn't represent me. She is an anomaly that is one costume away from becoming a furry. ::shudder::
Down-vote the hell out of me. After all, I can't possibly compare to tits in a room full of sexless wonders.
The ZeroCorpse @ Nov 20th 2007 1:56AM
Agh... Nevermind my rant. I need caffeine.
Enjoy your nerdy chick, guys.
Fank @ Nov 21st 2007 6:01AM
"We're seen as losers because THIS is the image people get in their head when they think of "gamers"."
While you go care about what people that you don't know who have a wrongful idea of who you are think of you, I'll just go and admire this girl for her talent and guts to post this online. Since there will always be guys jerking off to this.
Idiots like you give gamers a bad name, if non-gamers actually read your crap.
I don't care for people who go to a release of Harry Potter dressed as their favourite character, or goes to see Star Wars in a theater dressed as Luke Skywalker. Why? Because I respect people for who they are, and if they like doing that, fine. I'm not some hater who goes on ranting about my biased bigotry to people who dress up as their favourite characters. I'm a hater who rants to people that sit at home behind their computer trying to downplay a girl, and tries to stop people from admiring her.
If people think that gamers and geeks are obsessive freaks: they need a reality check. And so do you. Conformist.
