Whether you love to play them or just plan on giving them as gifts, there's always a reason to buy more video games. Fortunately, there are a few times in the year when our wallets feel some slight relief, and now is one of those times, as Toys "R" Us is currently holding a sale that will let you buy two Wii games and get one free. Now, normally you probably would have better luck finding good games in a brick and mortar store rather than online, since many of the better games online go out of stock quickly. Yet, before you run to your nearest Toys "R" Us store, you might want to know that a Super Smash Bros. Brawl preorder is eligible for the buy two, get one free deal.
Also of note, a preorder of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams works with the sale, too. Normally Toys "R" Us doesn't include preoders in their deals, so either they made a mistake or are feeling extra generous for the holidays. Whatever the case, this might be the smartest way to pick up Brawl if you can find two other games that strike your (or someone else's, it is the holidays after all!) fancy. The sale ends Wednesday, so you'd best hurry if you want to take advantage of this offer.
One last thing: it seems that Toys "R" Us didn't get the memo about Brawl's delay, as they have the game listed for release in December. If you do preorder, don't expect your game to come until February!
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

While they do seem to have included preorders in this sale, posters at GoNintendo and other places have complained that TRU will cancel your order if any of your three games are out of stock, and the "temporarily not available" thing wasn't appearing for games that were out of stock.
Now I see that nearly all the qualifying games are listed as out of stock, so the sale may pretty much already be over by default unless you want Spongebob or Barbie.

I was really hoping to use this for my christmas list, but they dont have Conquest available, and since it cancels the order if out-of-stock, I guess I'll have to go somewhere else.

I just can't justify buying 3 more games after just buying Zack and Wiki and Superio Mario Galaxy. I've got enough on my plate until at least January now, maybe longer.

GO TO YOUR LOCAL STORE....assuming they have games....I was able to pick up Fire Emblem, MoHH2, and Zack & Wiki for the low low price of $81 after using my galaxies gift card fromt he previous week......I may not open all of them for a few months, but I saved the money on the front end!

A thrifty shopper am I! After spending an agonizing few minutes, I decided to go home as there was no third game on the shelves that I wanted. However, I passed by the video game checkout before leaving. Those tricky sales clerks! There were tons of games in the case that hadn't been represented at all on the shelves! To think I had just heard no less than a dozen people complain about how few games were left while looking at the shelves.
I promptly bought Batallion Wars II, Zack & Wiki, and Resident Evil 4. While I only got $30 off for Resident Evil, I also used my $25 gift card that I recieved from my recent Mario Purchase. The holidays are going to be good this year!

My local TRU has been as shady as possible to ensure that they can avoid honoring as many recent promotions as possible, such as the Mario GC promo and buy 2 get 1 free. I called their 1800 number and their customer support seems to not care very much why I am no longer a TRU Kid after 25 years of being a customer. I placed my order for all three preorders and am waiting for them to cancel it. A deal is a deal and if they do, they can enjoy the BBB and FTC complaints that I will file and pursue.
"there's a million toys at TRU that I can play with!"...except the ones on sale.

the point of the TRU promotion is to move the old games and the crappy games, not to let everyone have 3 good games for the price of two. you know, the games that in 6 weeks will be marked down anyway.

Just so you know, they're not doing it for preorders anymore. It now excludes them.

This promotion equals BULL#$*(#*(%!!!! I went in yesterday armed with my gc from buying SMG last week and looking to get MP3, BW2 and maybe Bongo Blast for my son. Shelf behind the counter is FULL, but "those are display cases, we're sold out" Sorry, but I can see the cellophane you numb idiot. Oh well, a TRU kid I may be no longer after 27 years.

I made the trip to my closest TRU yesterday to take advantage of this deal yesterday. When I arrived in the Electronics department, I was greeted with a sign on the Wii games case that said, "Sorry, but all backwards games are out of stock." Essentially all of the games in the case, even Cooking Mama and such, were turned around so that either I could only see the back or the opposite of the spine. I guess this bit or trickery was supposed to make me think the games were not actually in the glass case, but that what I saw must have been an illusion. Yeah, sure.
