Cheating wife caught out ... by her lover's Mii
12
Here's one you probably won't find on My Wii Story. A young soldier goes to war in Iraq, taking his DS and (eventually) Wii with him. While he's away, playing Wii Sports with his army buddies, his wife begins to conduct an affair with a ten-pin bowling champion. A little over a year later, the soldier returns to wagging tongues, tips from friends about his wife's indiscretions, and e-mails that reveal plans for his wife and her lover to run away together.
Heartbroken, he turns on his Wii to reminisce about the friends he made in Iraq, and comes face to face with the final piece of incriminating evidence: the Mii of his wife's lover, and a list of the times and dates the pair played Wii Bowling together, forever secreted in his Wii's Calendar mode.
This, if you were wondering, is the rather poignant tale of "Tony," who courageously sent his story to Go Nintendo. You can read his email in full at the link below.

I've been thinking about this story, and it sounds like bull because the Wii doesn't store the times people have been playing or what Mii played what with who: it just shows what day a game was played and how long it was played. So the idea that it shows 'Ex-Wife's Mii and Lover's Mii Played Wii Bowling at 3:00 AM after sex' is obvious bull. This story seems more made up to me the more I think about it. Since it doesn't make sense as that isn't how the Wii works, it must be made up.

Well it does show when the character was registered for the game and when it won any medal. That would give him some of the info.

@ troy: I may not have read the original story because gonintendo.com doesn't want to work for me right now, but by reading this, I got the impression that by "times and dates the pair played Wii Bowling together", the story meant the amount of time and the dates they played it. Quite clearly the Wii saves the amount of time, the dates, and the games played. It could be a safe assumption (by this article) that he found the cheatee's Mii on the Mii channel, or maybe even registered for Wii Sports (it saves on the message board when you do so), and assumed all the Wii Sports play times were the two of them. So I really don't think it seems too fake, and really, that's gotta suck, having to go off to the effing war, come back, and lose your loved one? Ouch.

Well that's just the thing. This story is being reported all over the net as though there was some kind of conclusive proof in the form of logs showing the time and dates that specific mii's were being used, which the system does not do. Sure they guy could have easily 'guessed' based on seeing the mii that all times Wii Sports was played was his wife's lover, but that isn't the same. Headlines saying 'guy with Wii suspects his wife was cheating' don't sound as catchy as 'Wii Shows Wife and Cheating Guy Together' which it just couldn't possibly do.

The Wii system logs doesn't track Mii usage, however Wii Sports does.

Ahh I see! Thanks for clarifying. Obviously I should pay mo' attention to Wii Sports.

Can Nintendo PLEASE fkn update the firmware to allow for the deletion of ANY message? My wife & friends don't have to know when and for how long I use any given aspect of my Wii. That's what parental controls are for. Seriously.

This is bull imho. The wii has been out for exactly a year now, how could he be using it with his buddies for more than a year? and we have to assume they got at least two wiis on launch? sounds fishy.

I read the email. The affair issues started out before they had the Wii, which is what that year later comment is referring to, not referring to a year of playing Wii sports.
