Dungeon Lords expansion, sequel announced, world asks why?
2005's Dungeon Lords was a mess of a game. Despite being helmed by PC role-playing vet David Bradley, best known for three titles in Sir-Tech's venerable Wizardry series including the timeless Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant, Dungeon Lords was a shell of a finished product, riddled with glitches, bugs, and incomplete features. So, sequel anyone?
Publisher JoWooD has announced plans for not only a "stand alone" expansion to the role-playing disaster, due in the third quarter of 2008, but a sequel as well, which is planned for the PC and an unspecified "next-gen" console a full year later in 2009. This sure seems like a lot of effort to thrown behind a game that was collectively panned by gaming critics, despite being "well-received commercially," according to JoWooD.
There is an old saying of being once bitten, twice shy, though perhaps the distant release dates are pinned on hopes that players will forget about the first game altogether. It's possible, though our trusty Magic 8-Balls says "outlook not so good."

Man, didn't you guys hear? Dungeon Lords case mods were all the rage when the game was released. I'm surprised JoWooD has waited this long to announce the sequel(s).

DW Bradley old games rocked but they really fucked up dungeon lords. I'll be waiting to see if they redeem themselves before buying anything related to the series.

I need to reiterate the original version shipped with 2 copies of Disc2 and Disc3. If you tried to install with one set and it didnt work you were supposed to try the other set. That was just the begining of how fucked up this game was at release, and served as a warning for the rest of the experience.

Why? To fix it, maybe?

I remember getting that game, and being annoyed that you couldn't set your character's skin and hair colour - nothing would happen when you clicked those buttons. A patch to the game came out quickly, though, so I was happy to download it and have some character customization.
The patch disabled and greyed out those buttons.

LOL, they must have literally snuck into the development teams work area and grabbed a couple disks of their desks to reprint for shipment. I mean how long do you think it takes to grey out 2 buttons?

Oh jeez. I bought this game, somehow mixing it up with "Dragon Age" (which is not yet out). Man was that a mistake. After installing it there were features listed in the instructions that just didn't work. Map? Not there. Character customization....any (Nada). ANY NPC's That weren't bad guys, completely AWOL. It was the definition of an unfinished game. Ironically it wasn't THAT bad, and I could see it being fun if everything was there.
