While Wii owners will soon be enjoying the first NiGHTS sequel, it looks like PS2 owners will eventually be enjoying the original. Famitsu Magazine reports that an enhanced port of the original Sega Saturn game NiGHTS into Dreams will be coming to the Playstation 2 in Japan in February of next year.
The PS2 version will display in 16:9 widescreen, and feature slightly improved graphics. The game will also include galleries of video, art, and stills from the marketing and production of the game. We're pleased as punch that the original NiGHTS is being revisited, but it is a bit odd that the Wii will be graced with NiGHTS Journey of Dreams and not its predecessor. Perhaps the odds of a Virtual Console release have slightly increased?

When I first saw this, I said "NO. IT. IS. NOT." Half in shock, half in anger.
Then I remembered the Virtual Console.

Just as I was thinking about selling in my PS2....I still have two games since 2006 and barely ever touch the thing. But when I heard I would finally get to play Nights for the first time in my life without having to own a Saturn(which I also never touched in my life), suddenly new life came in my PS2.

This is a pick up for me cause I don't have it for the Saturn and didn't get chance to really learn how to play it back then. I am also one the people loosing faith in Sega so I totally agree with dexter on that one. This is probably the (to me) best thing to happen to them since Virtua Fighter 4, VF4 Evolution, VF5 and the Condemned series and Otogi 1 and 2. Giving up on the dream cast and sports and all around good games hurt them so the two nights games will help just a little bit.

Also, the extra content looks like it was ripped directly from Christmas NiGHTS.

You know, the real question is whether or not it will come with that goofy-ass moon-shaped controller.

What "moon-shaped" controller? If you're talking about the Saturn 3-D Controller, that was the analog controller for the Saturn. Since PS2 already has an analog stick as a standard controller, there is no benefit in releasing a new controller for this game.
