Oddly enough you have to have Microsoft Windows in order to patronize the store which begs the question, is a Microsoft Xbox required?

Seriously, they shouldn't turn away the customers that do not patronize Microsoft, it's bizarre.

So basically you're saying that they should only release a MAC version of the downloader? How ridiculous. They (along with every other game related PC product) are supporting the primary computer OS. Maybe an OSX edition will follow - I don't really care, myself. Gamers don't usually opt for Macs.

This is a good step by Sony. Should have been here years ago, but better late than never. It'll be interesting to see what content develops.

Wow, I figured it was going to be mostly a copy of the content on the PS3 PSN. This is a pleasant surprise. Who would've thought that the company unable to keep anything under wraps would've been able to keep this under wraps?

Hmmm... that's never really mattered to me. I prefer that over the slow, clunky, ad ridden 360 dash. Actually, the ads don't bother me so much, but damn, my dash has been freaking slow for several months now. The damn thing locks up for a few seconds half the time I try to bring up one up the guide to access my friends list or when I click on a friend's name and attempt to compare games. It's even locked up completely a few times.

Really?

Then either:

A. Your 360 is dying on you
B. You just suck.

I have absolutely no problem going through the xbox live menus.

Okay, I'm actually fairly impressed with the selection of psone games. If they play their cards right, this might give XBL a run for its money.

Can you imagine? Skullmonkeys? Um Jammer Lammy? There are a ton of great psone games they could offer on this thing.

i was hoping I could download PS3 demos with this (because my network connection at work is roughly 100 times faster than my network connection at home) but no such luck. :-(

Same thing Tim! I also wanted to download ps3 demos since I'm having trouble connecting my ps3 online. I hope Sony adds them.

It's Wipeout, not WipEout. The font on the cover of the games may be a little misleading, but that's what it is.

Even though I've criticized Sony heavily in the past, I will say this, this seems like a pretty cool idea.

Before you needed a PS3 to download stuff for your PSP. Now PC Non-PS3 users can use it.

But what about us PSP, Mac, Non-PS3 users?

I find it so ironic that they shun Mac users like this.

Anyway, I am disappointed there's no Mac support and unfortunately, will have to wait until there is some way to use the store on a Mac.

Come on Sony throw Mac users a bone here! :)

Mac/Linux folks. Just use VMware until they have a solution.

Waruwaru, your suggestion is rather silly as you'd still need Microsoft Windows.

Yeah, Waruwaru, that is a workaround, but I don't really have the cash to buy a VMware license along with a copy of Windows. Even if I did I don't think I could bring myself to buy Windows just for... anything really. :(

That won't be a problem. I can get it.

It's just that currently I have a PPC Mac. I can't run Windows at all.

This looks cool but watch out, to get software on the PSP you have to download the Playstation network downloader software for PC. I notice it needs administrator privileges to run. After Sony's rootkit history I'm scared to install software that needs to run as administrator, that means it's getting somewhere deep in the system. Has anyone else tried this.

It's not US only, I found the same store in Asia region. (need to select regions) And the content is different. (and the webside is surprisingly simplified-Chinese!)

But not yet PSP demos :(, the site is barely open and not much content. But I'm glad they open stores in different regions at the same time.

Hope they add PS3 demos 'cause PS3 download speed like hell...
